HYTE Thicc FP12 & Nexus Portal NP50 Bundle Instruction Manual

Model: FP12, NP50

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your HYTE Thicc FP12 120mm Performance Fans and Nexus Portal NP50 controller bundle. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning installation to ensure proper setup and optimal performance.

2. Product Overview

2.1 HYTE Thicc FP12 120mm Performance Fans

The THICC FP12 is a 120mm fan designed for both aesthetic appeal and high performance. Its minimalist two-tone white and black design integrates easily into various PC builds. Featuring a 32mm extra-thick frame and fiberglass-reinforced Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) blades, these fans are optimized for both case and radiator cooling. They offer an adjustable speed range of 0 to 3,000 RPM, delivering up to 105.8 CFM airflow and 8.14 mm-H2O static pressure. Hydraulic bearings contribute to a longer lifespan and reduced noise.

2.2 HYTE Nexus Portal NP50

The Nexus Portal NP50 acts as a central control unit for your system's cooling, lighting, and sensor channels. It features a powerful onboard sequential bit processor. Its aesthetic two-tone design allows it to fit into any 2.5" mounting location, and an included cover shroud assists with I/O routing and cable management. The NP50 provides 3 Nexus Link Type-C ports and 1 legacy 3-pin PWM channel, enabling control over numerous devices. With 180 watts of power and 15A of current, supported by AmpScale technology, it can connect up to 18 devices on a single port or up to 54 devices across all three Type-C channels.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Connecting Nexus Link Devices

The Nexus Link system allows for seamless, sequential connections between compatible HYTE devices, such as FP12 fans and LS10/LS30 light strips, using magnetic snapping connectors. This simplifies cable management and reduces the number of individual connections to the NP50.

3.2 Connecting Fans to Nexus Portal NP50

Connect your FP12 fans to the Nexus Portal NP50 using the provided Nexus Link Type-C cables. Fans can be connected individually to the NP50's Type-C ports, or sequentially to each other, with the last fan in the chain connecting to the NP50. This allows for efficient routing and minimizes cable clutter.

3.3 Connecting Light Strips to Nexus Portal NP50

HYTE LS10 and LS30 light strips can also be integrated into the Nexus Link ecosystem. Connect the light strips sequentially to each other, and then connect the last light strip in the chain to one of the Nexus Link Type-C ports on the NP50. This allows for synchronized lighting effects across your system.

4. Operation

The HYTE Nexus Portal NP50 and connected devices are controlled via the HYTE Nexus software. This software provides comprehensive monitoring, customization, and control over your cooling and lighting setup. Install the latest version of the HYTE Nexus software from the official HYTE website.

4.1 Software Control

  • Fan Speed Adjustment: Use the software to adjust the fan speeds of your FP12 fans from 0 to 3,000 RPM to balance cooling performance and noise levels.
  • Lighting Customization: Configure RGB lighting effects for connected light strips and other compatible devices.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor temperatures, fan speeds, and other system parameters through the Nexus software interface.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your HYTE Thicc FP12 fans and Nexus Portal NP50.

  • Fan Cleaning: Periodically clean dust from the fan blades and frames using compressed air or a soft brush. Ensure the system is powered off before cleaning.
  • Cable Management: Regularly check cable connections to ensure they are secure and not obstructing airflow.
  • Software Updates: Keep your HYTE Nexus software updated to benefit from the latest features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HYTE Thicc FP12 fans or Nexus Portal NP50, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Fans Not Spinning/No RGB:
    • Verify all Nexus Link connections are secure, both between devices and to the NP50.
    • Ensure the NP50 is receiving adequate power from the power supply.
    • Check the HYTE Nexus software to confirm fan and lighting profiles are correctly configured and enabled.
  • Excessive Fan Noise:
    • Adjust fan speeds in the HYTE Nexus software to a lower RPM.
    • Ensure fans are securely mounted and not vibrating against the case or other components.
    • Clean any dust buildup on fan blades.
  • Fan Settings Not Retained After Reboot:
    • Some users report that fan power settings are not saved to the NP50's firmware and default to 100% speed upon reboot if the Nexus software is not running. Ensure the HYTE Nexus software is set to launch automatically with Windows.
    • If using the NP50 with a PWM connection to your motherboard, ensure your motherboard BIOS or fan control software is properly configured to manage the PWM signal.
  • Devices Not Detected by Software:
    • Ensure the NP50 is correctly connected to your motherboard via USB.
    • Restart the HYTE Nexus software or your computer.
    • Reinstall the HYTE Nexus software.
