Maintenance and Defrosting
Defrosting
Over time, frost will accumulate inside the freezer. Regular defrosting is necessary to maintain efficiency.
- Unplug: Disconnect the freezer from the power outlet.
- Empty Contents: Remove all food items and store them in another freezer or cooler.
- Open Drain Plug: Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the freezer interior and remove it. Place a shallow pan or towel underneath the exterior drain port to collect melted water.
- Allow to Melt: Leave the lid open to allow frost to melt naturally. You can speed up the process by placing bowls of hot water inside (do not use sharp objects to remove ice).
- Clean and Dry: Once defrosted, clean the interior with a mild detergent and warm water. Wipe thoroughly dry.
- Close Drain Plug: Reinsert the drain plug securely.
- Restart: Plug the freezer back in and allow it to cool before returning food.
