5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Steam Cooking
- Prepare Food: Wash, peel, and chop fruits, vegetables, meat, or fish into small, uniform pieces (approximately 1/2 inch cubes).
- Add Food to Basket: Place the chopped food into the steam basket. Do not overfill; ensure steam can circulate freely.
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid of the water reservoir (located behind the blending bowl). Use the provided measuring cup to add the appropriate amount of water based on the food type and desired cooking time. Refer to the cooking guide for specific water levels (1, 2, or 3).
- Start Steaming: Close the water reservoir lid and the main bowl lid securely. Plug in the appliance. Press the steam button (indicated by a cloud icon). The indicator light will illuminate, and steaming will begin. The appliance will automatically shut off and beep three times when steaming is complete.

5.2. Blending
- Transfer Food: Once steaming is complete, carefully open the bowl lid. Use the provided spatula to lift the steam basket and transfer the cooked food into the blending bowl. Retain the cooking liquid in the bowl, as it contains valuable nutrients and can be used to adjust consistency.
- Add Liquid (Optional): Add some of the reserved cooking liquid, breast milk, formula, or water to achieve the desired consistency.
- Blend: Place the mixing lid onto the blending bowl and secure the main lid. Turn the central dial to the blending function (indicated by a blade icon) and hold it for short pulses until the desired texture is achieved. Avoid continuous blending for too long to prevent overheating.

5.3. Defrosting & Reheating
The Babycook Duo can also be used to defrost and reheat pre-prepared baby food. Place the frozen or chilled food in the steam basket or directly in the blending bowl (without the basket). Add a small amount of water to the reservoir (usually level 1 or 2, depending on quantity) and press the steam button. Monitor the food to ensure it is heated evenly and to the desired temperature.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and hygienic operation of your Babycook Duo.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool. Wash all removable parts (bowls, lids, baskets, mixing lid, spatula) by hand with warm soapy water or place them in the dishwasher (top rack recommended).
- Main Unit: Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may build up in the water reservoir, affecting performance. Descale the reservoir regularly (e.g., every 2-4 weeks, depending on water hardness). To descale, fill the reservoir with a mixture of 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/2 cup water. Let it sit for several hours or overnight. Run a steam cycle with this solution, then rinse thoroughly by running 2-3 cycles with clean water.
