1. Important Safety Information

  • Electrical Safety: Use only the specified battery packs and chargers. Do not expose the battery or charger to water or extreme temperatures. Disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. Maintain tools with care. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tool's operation.
  • Battery Safety: Do not short-circuit a battery pack. Do not charge a damaged battery pack. Dispose of batteries properly according to local regulations.

This tiller is equipped with a dual safe lock mechanism to prevent accidental starts. Always engage the safety lock when not in use.

The tiller features a powerful brushless motor and 16 steel tines for efficient soil cultivation. It operates on a 40V system, powered by two 5.0Ah lithium-ion batteries.

3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your tiller for use.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts listed in the manual are present.
  2. Handle Assembly: Attach the upper handle to the lower handle using the provided quick bolt knob combinations. Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. Battery Charging: Insert the 5.0Ah lithium-ion batteries into the provided chargers. Allow 2.5-3 hours for a full charge. The charger indicator light will change when charging is complete.

  1. Battery Installation: Once charged, insert both batteries into their respective compartments on the tiller. Ensure they click securely into place.
  2. Tine Inspection: Before each use, inspect the steel tines for any damage or debris.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these guidelines for safe and effective operation of your TaskStar tiller.

  1. Starting the Tiller: To start, press and hold the safety button, then squeeze the On/Off switch. Release the safety button once the tiller starts.
  2. Stopping the Tiller: Release the On/Off switch to stop the tiller.
  3. Adjusting Gears: The tiller features a 4-position gear adjustment for varying soil conditions and tasks. Adjust the gear lever to select the desired speed and power.

  1. Cultivating Technique: Guide the tiller slowly and steadily over the soil. The tiller is designed to cultivate soil up to 14 inches wide and 9 inches deep. For hard or compacted soil, multiple passes may be required.

5. Maintenance and Storage

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your tiller.

  • Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the tines and housing. Remove any accumulated soil, weeds, or debris. The tines can be unhooked for easier cleaning.
  • Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the tiller for loose fasteners, damaged parts, or excessive wear. Replace worn or damaged parts with genuine TaskStar replacement parts.
  • Storage: The tiller features a foldable design for convenient storage. Fold the handle down and store the unit in a dry, secure location.

6. Troubleshooting
