2. Safety Information
WARNING: This is a Class 4 laser product. Direct exposure to the laser beam can cause severe eye and skin damage. Always follow safety precautions.
- Eye Protection: Always wear appropriate laser safety goggles (OD6+ or higher) that are specifically rated for the laser's wavelength (typically blue laser, 450nm). Never look directly into the laser beam or its reflection.
- Skin Protection: Avoid direct exposure of skin to the laser beam.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area to remove fumes and smoke generated during engraving or cutting. Some materials can produce toxic fumes.
- Fire Hazard: Laser processing can ignite flammable materials. Always have a fire extinguisher nearby and never leave the machine unattended during operation.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the laser engraving machine and work area.
- Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop procedure for your laser machine.
- Power Supply: Use only the specified power supply (12V or 24V) for the laser module.
3. Setup and Installation
The DLC laser module is designed for easy integration with various laser engraving and cutting machines, CNC routers, and 3D printers that support 12V or 24V power supplies.
3.1 Unpacking and Component Check
Carefully unpack all components and verify against the packing list. The package typically includes:
- DLC Laser Module
- Mounting Board
- External Power Cord (if applicable)
- 3P Control Line
- Focus Fixing Plate
- Screwdriver Tool + Lens Replacement Tool
- Replaceable Protective Lens

3.2 Mounting the Laser Module
- Identify the mounting points on your laser machine's gantry or frame. The DLC module features multi-hole positions on its back for versatile installation.
- Attach the provided mounting board (if compatible) or directly secure the laser module using appropriate screws and fasteners. Ensure the module is firmly fixed and stable.
3.3 Electrical Connection
- Connect the 3P control line from the laser module to the corresponding port on your machine's control board. This is a plug-and-play connection.
- Connect the power cord to the laser module and then to a compatible 12V or 24V power source. Verify the voltage requirements of your machine and the module before connecting.
- Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the machine.
3.4 Focusing the Laser
Accurate focusing is critical for optimal engraving and cutting performance.
- Place a piece of scrap material (e.g., thin wood or cardboard) on the work surface.
- Position the focus fixing plate under the laser module, ensuring the bottom edge of the plate touches the material surface.
- Adjust the height of the laser module until the laser beam passes through the designated opening on the focus fixing plate and creates the smallest possible dot on the material. The optimal focus length is approximately 45mm.
- Secure the laser module at this height.
4. Operating Instructions
The DLC 80W module is capable of high-speed engraving and efficient cutting across various materials.
4.1 Basic Operation
- Software Setup: Ensure your laser control software (e.g., LightBurn, LaserGRBL) is configured for your machine and the DLC laser module.
- Material Placement: Place the material to be processed on the work surface, ensuring it is flat and secure.
- Focus Check: Re-verify the laser focus for each new material thickness or if the work surface height changes.
- Safety Gear: Always wear laser safety goggles before initiating any laser operation.
- Start Job: Initiate the engraving or cutting job through your control software. Monitor the process closely.
4.2 Engraving and Cutting Capabilities
The module's 10W optical output and FAC technology provide a compressed spot (0.08*0.08mm) for fine detail and strong penetration.
- Engraving: Capable of directly engraving mirror stainless steel without prior blackening. Engraving speed on 304 stainless steel can reach up to 300mm/s with a 45mm focus length.
- Cutting:
- Cut 12mm acrylic in a single pass.
- Cut 20mm pinewood in a single pass at 1.5mm/s with a 45mm focus length.

Figure 3: Examples of cutting capabilities. This image illustrates the module's ability to cut 12mm acrylic and 20mm pinewood in a single pass, demonstrating its power and precision.
4.3 Air Assist Function
The built-in air assist system helps to remove smoke and debris from the cutting area, resulting in cleaner cuts and engravings, reduced scorching, and improved efficiency.

Figure 4: Integrated design showing the built-in air pump and fan. This image highlights the internal components responsible for the air assist and cooling systems, contributing to cleaner results and module longevity.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your laser module.
5.1 Lens Cleaning and Replacement
- The protective lens can accumulate dust and debris, affecting laser performance. Inspect the lens regularly.
- To clean, use a lint-free cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Gently wipe the lens surface.
- If the lens is scratched or damaged, replace it using the provided lens replacement tool and a new protective lens.
5.2 Cooling System
The module features a built-in fan cooling system (12000 rpm) to maintain optimal operating temperature and prevent power degradation. Ensure the fan vents are clear of obstructions to allow for proper airflow.
5.3 General Care
- Keep the laser module clean and free from dust and debris.
- Avoid exposing the module to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
- The original diode has a high quality and a lifetime of up to 20,000 hours under normal operating conditions.
