5. Maintenance

5.1 Defrosting

This freezer requires manual defrosting. When frost accumulation reaches approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick, or at least once a year, defrost the unit. To defrost:

  1. Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
  2. Remove all food items and store them in another freezer or cooler.
  3. Open the drain plug located at the bottom of the freezer to allow water to escape. Place a shallow pan or towel underneath to collect the water.
  4. Use the provided plastic scraper to remove ice from the interior walls. Do not use sharp metal objects.
  5. Once defrosted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly before plugging the unit back in and returning food items.

  • Temperature is not cold enough: Ensure the temperature control is set correctly. Check for excessive door openings or obstructions preventing the lid from closing properly.
  • Excessive frost buildup: This is normal for manual defrost freezers. Defrost the unit as described in the maintenance section.
