3. Installation Guide

The BIWIBON Smart Door Knob is designed for easy installation, typically replacing existing door knobs. Follow these steps carefully.

3.1 Prepare Your Door

  • Ensure your door thickness is between 1-3/8" (35mm) and 2-1/8" (55mm).
  • Verify the backset (distance from door edge to center of bore hole) is either 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm).
  • Confirm the bore hole diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm).
  • The door edge should be chiseled for the latch plate to sit flush. If not, chisel it according to the provided template.

  • Insert the adjustable latch into the door edge, ensuring the bevel of the latch bolt faces the door frame.
  • Secure the latch with the provided screws.

3.3 Install the Exterior and Interior Knobs

  • Connect the spindle to the exterior knob.
  • Pass the spindle and the wire from the exterior knob through the latch mechanism and the bore hole.
  • Align the interior knob with the spindle and the threaded pillars. Ensure the wire from the exterior knob is connected to the interior knob's port. The connector has a black side that should face up for proper connection.
  • Secure the interior knob to the exterior knob using the threaded pillars and screws.

  • Keypad Code Unlock: Enter your programmed 6-10 digit code on the keypad. The lock will unlock upon correct entry.
  • App Unlock: Open the Tuya Smart app, select your lock, and tap the unlock icon.

  • Privacy Mode: Activates a manual deadbolt-like function, preventing unlocking even with programmed credentials. Ideal for ensuring complete privacy. To activate, slide the privacy switch on the interior knob. Warning: Do not activate privacy mode while the door is open or the room is unoccupied, as this will restrict access.
  • Passage Mode: Keeps the door unlocked for continuous access without needing credentials. Useful for high-traffic areas or during gatherings.
  • Silent Mode: Disables all sound notifications from the lock, allowing for quiet entry and exit.
  • Auto-Lock: Automatically locks the door after a set period (e.g., 5 seconds) of inactivity. This feature ensures the door is always secured.

  • Connect the BIWIBON Gateway to your home Wi-Fi network.
  • Pair the smart door knob with the gateway through the Tuya Smart app.
  • Integrate the Tuya Smart app with your Alexa or Google Assistant account.

  • Emergency Power: If batteries die completely, use the Type-C port on the exterior knob with a power bank for temporary emergency power to unlock the door. This port is for power only, not for charging the internal batteries.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Key Storage: Keep at least one spare physical key in a secure, easily accessible location outside the locked area for emergencies.
