1.3 First Boot and Windows 11 Setup
Once all peripherals are connected, press the power button on the front of the workstation. The system comes with a fresh installation of Windows 11 Pro, which is pre-activated. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the initial Windows setup, such as setting up user accounts and network preferences.
1.4 Creating Recovery Media
It is highly recommended to create recovery media immediately after the initial setup.
Recovery media can be created from any Windows machine using the Windows Media Creation Tool. This free tool from Microsoft allows you to create a bootable DVD or USB device. This media can be used to fully recover the operating system in case of a hard disk failure or other system issues. Creating this media on your new workstation before any potential issues is advised, as the seller is not responsible for data loss.
2. Operating the Workstation
2.1 General Operation
The HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation is equipped with an Intel Core i9-9900K processor and 64GB DDR4 RAM, providing robust performance for demanding applications. Windows 11 Pro offers a secure and efficient operating environment.
2.2 Performance and Cooling
This workstation is engineered for sustained high performance. It features an advanced cooling system designed to maintain optimal operating temperatures even under heavy workloads, ensuring reliability and longevity.
3. Maintenance
3.1 General Care
To ensure the longevity of your workstation, keep it in a clean, dust-free environment. Avoid blocking ventilation openings. Regularly check for and install operating system updates and driver updates.

3.3 Cleaning
Periodically clean the exterior of the workstation with a soft, dry cloth. Use compressed air to clear dust from ventilation grilles and internal components if you are comfortable opening the case. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
4. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation.
- System Not Powering On:
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the workstation and the electrical outlet.
- Verify the electrical outlet is functional.
- No Display on Monitor:
- Check that the monitor is powered on and correctly connected to the workstation's Display Port.
- Ensure the monitor input source is set correctly.
- System Running Slowly or Freezing:
- Close unnecessary applications.
- Check for sufficient free space on the 2TB NVMe SSD.
- Ensure the cooling vents are not obstructed. Excessive heat can lead to performance throttling.
- Run a system diagnostic tool (available in Windows) to check for hardware issues.
- Unusual Fan Noise:
- While the workstation has an advanced cooling system, continuous heavy workloads can cause fans to run at higher speeds, producing more noise.
- Ensure the workstation is in a well-ventilated area.
- If the noise is excessive or unusual (e.g., grinding), consider cleaning dust from the fans or contacting support.
- Operating System Issues:
- If Windows 11 encounters significant issues, consider using the recovery media you created (as described in Section 1.4) to reinstall the operating system.
