Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator Advanced EDID Minder

Model: 32119

1. Product Overview

The Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator Adapter is engineered to provide an uninterrupted signal path, effectively resolving EDID-related challenges frequently encountered with AV equipment such as KVMs, Extenders, Splitters, and Switches. Its compact and minimalist design makes it a practical connectivity solution for both AV and IT professionals, ensuring seamless integration of both legacy and modern HDMI equipment without compromising performance.

This emulator features integrated LED indicators for a straightforward installation process. It supports high resolutions up to 7680x4320@60Hz or 3840x2160@120Hz with High Dynamic Range (HDR) via EDID cloning, and includes HDCP 2.3 pass-through. These capabilities make it an ideal choice for use with Ultra HD 4K monitors and advanced display setups.

The adapter facilitates quick and easy cloning of EDID data directly from an HDMI display, allowing the graphics card to access accurate display information. The cloning process typically completes in under 10 seconds. Alternatively, the EDID Emulator comes pre-configured with a standard EDID profile that includes common resolution and timing combinations.

4. Setup and Installation

The Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator is designed for simple plug-and-play operation. Follow these steps for typical installation:

  1. Identify Ports: Locate the HDMI output port on your source device (e.g., PC, game console, media player) and the HDMI input port on your display device (e.g., monitor, TV, projector).
  2. Connect to Source: Plug the male HDMI connector of the Lindy EDID Emulator directly into the HDMI output port of your source device.
  3. Connect to Display (Optional for Cloning): If you intend to clone the EDID from a specific display, connect an HDMI cable from the female HDMI port of the emulator to the HDMI input of your desired display.
  4. Power On: Ensure both your source device and display (if connected) are powered on. The emulator draws power directly from the HDMI port.

EDID Cloning Process:

To clone the EDID from a specific display:

  1. Connect the emulator to the HDMI output of your source device.
  2. Connect an HDMI cable from the emulator's female port to the HDMI input of the display whose EDID you wish to clone.
  3. Ensure the display is powered on and displaying an image.
  4. The emulator will automatically detect and clone the EDID. This process typically takes less than 10 seconds. The LED indicator on the emulator will provide feedback during this process (refer to Section 5 for LED status).
  5. Once cloning is complete, the emulator will retain this EDID data even if the display is disconnected, allowing for headless operation or consistent EDID presentation to the source.

5. Operating Instructions

The Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator operates largely automatically once connected. Its primary function is to provide stable EDID information to the source device.

5.1. Automatic EDID Emulation

When connected, the emulator will either use the last cloned EDID data or its internal pre-set EDID. This ensures that the source device always receives valid display information, preventing issues like resolution changes, signal drops, or display detection failures, especially in complex AV setups or when a display is disconnected.

5.2. LED Indicators

The emulator features small LED indicators that provide status feedback:

  • Solid Green LED: Indicates that the emulator is powered on and actively providing EDID information.
  • Flashing Green LED: Indicates that the EDID cloning process is active. This will typically flash for a few seconds during cloning.
  • No LED: The device is not receiving power (check HDMI connection) or is not functioning correctly.

6. Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator, please follow these guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Environment: Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Connections: Always ensure cables are inserted and removed gently to prevent damage to the ports.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the emulator in a protective environment to prevent dust accumulation or physical damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Lindy HDMI 2.1 EDID Emulator, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No signal or intermittent signal.Loose cable connections; insufficient power from source; EDID conflict.
  • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
  • Try connecting the emulator to a different HDMI port on the source device.
  • If cloning, ensure the display is powered on and functioning during the cloning process.
  • Test with a different HDMI cable.
Incorrect resolution or refresh rate.EDID not correctly cloned or pre-set EDID not suitable.
  • Perform the EDID cloning process again with the desired display connected.
  • Ensure your source device's graphics settings are configured to output the desired resolution and refresh rate.
  • Verify that your display supports the desired resolution and refresh rate.
LED indicator is off.No power supply to the emulator.
  • Ensure the emulator is firmly plugged into an active HDMI output port on your source device.
  • Try a different HDMI output port or source device to confirm power delivery.
