Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NearStream AM15X microphone, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the microphone's exterior. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the microphone in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Handling: Handle the microphone with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, which can affect its internal components and sound quality.
  • Windscreen: Regularly clean or replace the mic windscreen to maintain hygiene and acoustic performance.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your NearStream AM15X microphone.

Common Questions and Solutions

  • Q: What devices does the NearStream USB/XLR Mic work with?
A: This microphone is compatible with:
    • Computers and PS4/PS5 via USB connection.
    • Audio interfaces and mixers via XLR connection (note: XLR cable is not included).
  • Q: When connecting the microphone via XLR, do the gain adjustment and noise reduction buttons still work?
A: No. XLR connections are typically used to link microphones to audio interfaces or instruments. To retain full button functionality (e.g., gain/noise reduction), simultaneously connect the microphone to your PC via USB alongside the XLR connection.
  • Q: Can this microphone be used with devices that only have a 3.5mm input (e.g., audio recorders)?
A: Not directly. To connect the microphone's XLR output to a 3.5mm input, you would need an XLR-to-3.5mm adapter. However, this setup may compromise audio quality due to potential signal loss or noise interference. For optimal performance, we recommend using devices with native XLR or USB support (e.g., audio interfaces, mixers, computers, or consoles).
  • Q: My microphone is not being recognized by my computer via USB.
A: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the microphone and your computer. Try a different USB port or a different USB cable. Verify that the microphone is selected as the input device in your computer's sound settings.
  • Q: The noise cancellation feature doesn't seem to be working.
A: The noise cancellation feature is only available when the microphone is connected via USB. Short press the smart knob to toggle noise cancellation on (blue indicator light).
