3.1 Powering the Device
The Oklar Blood Pressure Monitor is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged.
- Connect the small end of the provided USB charging cable to the charging port on the side of the monitor.
- Connect the larger end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.

3.2 Attaching the Arm Cuff
Proper cuff attachment is crucial for accurate readings.
- Insert the air tube connector from the cuff firmly into the air jack on the side of the monitor.
- Ensure the connection is secure to prevent air leakage during measurement.
3.3 Initial Settings (Time/Date/User)
While the manual does not detail specific time/date settings, the device supports dual users (User A and User B). To switch between users or access settings, press the SET button. Follow the on-screen prompts to adjust any available settings.

4. Operation
4.1 Preparing for Measurement
For accurate readings, follow these guidelines:
- Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, or bathing for 30 minutes before measurement.
- Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement.
- Sit upright with your back supported and feet flat on the floor. Do not cross your legs.
- Place your arm on a flat surface so the cuff is at heart level.
- Ensure clothing does not constrict your arm. Roll up sleeves if necessary.
4.2 Applying the Arm Cuff
The cuff should be applied directly to bare skin for best results.
- Slide the cuff onto your upper arm, ensuring the air tube points towards your forearm.
- The bottom edge of the cuff should be approximately 2-3 cm (about 2 fingers' width) above your elbow joint.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around your arm. It should be tight enough that you can only insert two fingers between the cuff and your arm.
- Ensure the artery mark on the cuff (if present) is aligned with your brachial artery (inner side of the upper arm).

This image illustrates the correct positioning of the arm cuff, emphasizing the two-finger rule for spacing above the elbow and tightness around the arm.
4.3 Taking a Measurement
Once the cuff is correctly applied and you are in a relaxed position:
- Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will begin to inflate automatically.
- Remain still and silent during the measurement. Do not talk or move your arm.
- The cuff will slowly deflate, and your blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.
- The measurement will automatically be saved to the selected user's memory.
- Press START/STOP again to turn off the device, or it will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity.
