5. Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation. Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.

Installation Steps:

  1. Measure the Opening: Measure the ceiling opening to ensure it is large enough to accommodate the 7-1/2 inches x 7-1/4 inches dimensions of the new fan housing (A).
  2. Cut Opening (if not replacing): If this fan is not replacing an old fan, ensure to cut a 7-3/4 inches x 7-1/2 inches opening for the fan housing.
  3. Attach Duct Connector: Attach the duct connector (C) to the fan housing (A).
  4. Remove Fan Motor: Remove the three screws on the side of the fan housing (A) that hold the fan motor in place. With the screws removed, unplug the fan motor and pull it out of the fan housing (A).
Installation steps 1 through 4 for the Fitop Bathroom Fan with Light.

Image 5.1: Initial Installation Steps. This image illustrates the first four steps of the installation process, including measuring, cutting the opening, attaching the duct connector, and removing the fan motor.

  1. Remove Wiring Box Cover: Remove the wiring box cover from the fan housing (A).
  2. Connect Wiring: Pull the house wires through the hole in the wiring box cover. Using quick connectors, connect the house wiring from the wall switch to the fan housing (A). 14 AWG is the smallest conductor that should be used for branch-circuit wiring. Refer to the wiring diagrams to ensure proper wire connections. Carefully push the wire connections into the wiring box housing and reattach the wiring box cover.
CAUTION: If your electrical wires do not match the colors listed, consult a licensed electrician to determine what each house wire represents before connecting the fan.
  3. Connect Duct: Connect a 4-inch circular duct to the duct connector on the fan housing (A), securing it with duct tape or a clamp. Vent the duct to the outside.
  4. Insert Fan Housing: With the wiring and duct connected, insert the fan housing (A) into the ceiling hole. Position the fan housing (A) so the bottom edge of the fan housing is flush with the ceiling.
Installation steps 5 through 8 for the Fitop Bathroom Fan with Light.

Image 5.2: Wiring and Duct Connection Steps. This image details steps 5 through 8, covering the electrical wiring connections and attaching the ductwork to the fan housing.

  1. Mount Fan Housing: Mount the fan housing (A) to the joist with three wood screws (AA) through the holes in the side of the fan housing (A).
CAUTION: The fan housing (A) must be installed flush with the ceiling board or the grille mounting springs will not be long enough to insert into the slots inside the fan housing (A).
  2. Plug in Fan Motor: Plug the fan motor plug into the fan housing (4-hole to 4-hole). Place the fan motor back into the fan housing, aligning the duct with the duct opening in the fan housing, and attach the fan motor to the housing using the three screws removed in step 4. Plug the LED light panel plug into the housing as well (2-hole to 2-hole).
  3. Attach LED Light Panel: Attach the LED light panel by pinching the mounting springs and inserting them into the narrow rectangular slots in the fan housing.
  4. Test Unit: Turn on the power source and test the unit.
Installation steps 9 through 12 for the Fitop Bathroom Fan with Light.

6. Operation

Fan Operation:

The exhaust fan operates by a standard wall switch (not included). Simply toggle the switch to turn the fan on or off. The fan will begin to extract air from the room, reducing humidity and odors.

Light Operation and Color Temperature Selection:

The integrated LED light also operates via a standard wall switch. The light features three selectable color temperatures: 3000K (Soft White), 4000K (Bright White), and 5000K (Daylight).

  • To change the color temperature, quickly toggle the wall switch OFF and then ON again. Each quick toggle will cycle through the available color temperatures.
  • The light includes a memory function, which means it will automatically save the last selected color temperature setting when turned off and will resume that setting when turned back on.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your fan. Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before performing any maintenance.

Cleaning the Fan and Light Cover:

  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the fan and light cover with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Interior Cleaning: Periodically, remove the light cover and gently clean the fan blades and interior housing with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment to remove dust and debris.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before restoring power.
