1. Introduction
The Yutin 10-in-1 STEM Wood Craft Kit provides an engaging and educational experience for children aged 8 and up. This kit allows users to construct ten different models, fostering an understanding of basic scientific principles, engineering, and problem-solving skills. Each model is designed to be assembled from pre-cut wooden pieces and includes necessary electronic components to bring the creations to life. This manual provides detailed instructions for assembly, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for all models included in the kit.
2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before beginning assembly or operation of any model. Adult supervision is recommended for younger children.
- Small Parts Warning: This kit contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard for children under 3 years old. Keep all components out of reach of infants and toddlers.
- Battery Safety: Always use the correct type of batteries (typically AA or AAA, as specified in individual model instructions). Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Insert batteries with correct polarity (+/-). Remove batteries if the kit will not be used for an extended period. Do not short-circuit battery terminals.
- Electrical Components: Handle wires and electronic components with care. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent short circuits. Do not expose electronic parts to water or excessive moisture.
- Wood Components: The wooden pieces are precisely cut. Handle them gently to avoid breakage. Ensure smooth edges are maintained during assembly.
- Tools: If small tools like screwdrivers are included or required, use them carefully to avoid injury.

4.1. Ferris Wheel & Flashing Star Light Assembly
These two models are often presented together due to their similar wooden construction and light-based features. The Ferris Wheel involves interlocking wooden gears and a motor for rotation, while the Star Light requires careful assembly of panels and wiring of LEDs.
- Ferris Wheel: Assemble the base and upright supports. Attach the central axle and gear mechanism. Connect the motor to the base and ensure it aligns with the gear. Assemble the wheel structure and attach it to the axle. Wire the motor to the battery holder.
- Flashing Star Light: Assemble the base and side panels with star cutouts. Insert the LED light module into the base. Connect the wires from the LED module to the battery holder. Secure the top panel.

4.2. Windmill, Fiber Optic Lamp & Carousel Assembly
These models showcase different mechanical and optical principles.
- Windmill: Construct the windmill house and tower. Assemble the propeller blades and attach them to the motor shaft. Mount the motor inside the tower and connect it to the battery holder.
- Fiber Optic Lamp: Assemble the small wooden base. Insert the fiber optic bundle into the designated slot. Connect the LED light source at the base of the fiber optics to the battery holder.
- Carousel: Assemble the base and central rotating mechanism. Attach the small horse figures to the rotating platform. Connect the motor to the central shaft and wire it to the battery holder.

4.3. Solar-Powered Car, Wind-Powered Car & Tank Assembly
These models demonstrate various forms of propulsion and mechanical transmission.
- Solar-Powered Car: Assemble the car chassis and attach the wheels. Mount the motor and connect it to the drive axle. Secure the solar panel to the top of the car and wire it to the motor.
- Wind-Powered Car: Assemble the car chassis and attach the wheels. Mount the motor with a propeller at the rear. Wire the motor to the battery holder.
- Tank: Assemble the tank chassis and attach the track wheels. Install the motor and connect it to the gear system for track movement. Assemble the turret and attach it to the main body. Wire the motor to the battery holder.

4.4. Obstacle Avoidance Robot & Wire-Controlled Car Assembly
These models introduce basic robotics and remote control concepts.
- Obstacle Avoidance Robot: Assemble the car chassis and attach the wheels. Mount the motors for the wheels. Install the obstacle sensor module (often with googly eyes) at the front. Wire the motors and sensor to the control board and battery holder.
- Wire-Controlled Car: Assemble the car chassis and attach the wheels. Mount the motors for the wheels. Connect the motors to the wired remote control unit and then to the battery holder.

5. Operating Instructions
Once assembled, each model offers a unique interactive experience. Ensure batteries are correctly installed before operation.
- Ferris Wheel: Insert batteries into the battery holder and switch it ON. The Ferris wheel will rotate continuously.
- Flashing Star Light: Insert batteries and switch ON. The light will illuminate and project star patterns, often cycling through different colors or flashing.
- Windmill: Insert batteries and switch ON. The windmill blades will spin.
- Fiber Optic Lamp: Insert batteries and switch ON. The fiber optic strands will light up, creating a glowing effect.
- Carousel: Insert batteries and switch ON. The carousel platform will rotate, moving the attached figures.
- Solar-Powered Car: Place the car under direct sunlight. The solar panel will convert light into electrical energy, powering the motor and moving the car. Performance depends on light intensity.
- Wind-Powered Car: Insert batteries and switch ON. The propeller at the rear will spin, generating thrust to move the car forward.
- Obstacle Avoidance Robot: Insert batteries and switch ON. The robot will move forward. When its front sensor detects an obstacle, it will automatically change direction to avoid collision.
- Tank: Insert batteries and switch ON. The tank will move forward. Some models may have controls for turning.
- Wire-Controlled Car: Insert batteries into the car's battery holder. Use the wired remote control to move the car forward or backward.
6. Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and functionality of your STEM models.
- Cleaning: Wipe wooden surfaces with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water or cleaning solutions directly on electronic components.
- Storage: Store assembled models in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity to prevent warping of wooden parts or damage to electronics.
- Battery Removal: If a model will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and corrosion.
- Component Check: Periodically check all connections and fasteners to ensure they are secure. Re-tighten screws if necessary.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your models, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Model Not Moving/Lighting Up:
- Check if batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-).
- Ensure batteries are fresh and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Verify all wire connections are secure and not loose or disconnected.
- For solar-powered models, ensure sufficient direct sunlight is reaching the solar panel.
- Motor Runs Slowly or Weakly:
- Batteries may be low; replace them.
- Check for any friction or obstruction in the moving parts (gears, wheels, axles). Ensure parts move freely.
- Obstacle Avoidance Robot Not Changing Direction:
- Ensure the sensor is clean and unobstructed.
- Verify the sensor's wiring connections to the control board.
- Wooden Pieces Not Fitting:
- Ensure you are using the correct pieces for the current step. Refer to the manual's diagrams.
- Gently sand edges if a piece is too tight, but avoid removing too much material.
