Installation Instructions

Follow these steps for proper installation of the keystone jacks:

  1. Strip the Jacket: Carefully strip approximately 1 inch of the outer jacket from the Ethernet cable, exposing the twisted pairs.
  2. Separate the Wires: Untwist and separate the individual colored wires.
  3. Fix Wires into Jack: Align the wires according to the T568A or T568B color code guide on the keystone jack. Insert each wire into its corresponding slot.
  4. Punch Down Wires: Use a punch down tool to firmly press each wire into the IDC terminals. The tool will simultaneously cut off any excess wire.
  5. Cover the Cap: Securely close the clear plastic cap over the punched-down wires to protect the connections and provide strain relief.
  6. Install into Wall Plate/Patch Panel: Insert the assembled keystone jack into a compatible wall plate or patch panel until it clicks into place. To remove, gently pry the keystone jack using a flat-blade screwdriver.

Wiring Guide

The VCELINK Cat6 Keystone Jacks support both T568A and T568B wiring standards. Ensure consistency in wiring throughout your network for proper functionality.

  • T568A Wiring Order: Green/White, Green, Orange/White, Blue, Blue/White, Orange, Brown/White, Brown
  • T568B Wiring Order: Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown

Refer to the color-coded labels on the keystone jack for precise wire placement.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the keystone jacks function as standard RJ45 ports. Simply plug in a compatible Ethernet cable (Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6) into the front of the jack to establish a network connection. The spring-loaded dust cover will automatically retract when a cable is inserted and close when removed, protecting the contacts.

Maintenance

These keystone jacks require minimal maintenance. The integrated dust cover helps keep the contacts clean. If necessary, gently wipe the exterior of the jack with a dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Troubleshooting

No Network Connection:

  • Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the keystone jack and the network device.
  • Check the wiring at the back of the keystone jack to ensure all wires are correctly punched down and follow either T568A or T568B standard consistently.
  • Test the Ethernet cable itself for continuity using a cable tester.
  • Ensure the connected network device (router, switch, computer) is powered on and functioning correctly.

Slow Network Speed:

  • Confirm that all components in your network chain (cables, switches, routers) are rated for Cat6 or higher to support desired speeds.
  • Inspect the cable connections for any loose wires or damage.
  • Ensure the cable length does not exceed the maximum recommended length for Cat6 (100 meters for 1 Gbps).
