5.3 Tonearm and Cartridge Setup

The Ortofon 2M RED cartridge is pre-installed on the headshell. Follow these steps to balance the tonearm and set the tracking force and anti-skating.

  1. Balance the Tonearm:
    • Remove the stylus protector from the cartridge.
    • Place the anti-skating weight on its support.
    • Release the tonearm clamp.
    • Rotate the counterweight at the rear of the tonearm until the tonearm floats freely and is perfectly level.
    • Once balanced, hold the counterweight steady and rotate only the numbered ring until '0' aligns with the line on the tonearm.
  2. Set Tracking Force:
    • The recommended tracking force for the Ortofon 2M RED cartridge is 1.8 grams.
    • Rotate the counterweight (including the numbered ring) counter-clockwise until the indicator points to 1.8.
  3. Set Anti-skating:
    • The anti-skating force should generally match the tracking force.
    • Adjust the anti-skating dial or mechanism to the corresponding value (e.g., 1.8).

5.4 Audio Connections

  1. RCA Output: Connect the supplied RCA cable to the L/R outputs on the turntable and to the corresponding inputs on your amplifier or receiver.
  2. PHONO/LINE Switch:
    • If your amplifier has a dedicated PHONO input, set the turntable's switch to PHONO.
    • If your amplifier has only LINE/AUX inputs, set the turntable's switch to LINE to use the built-in pre-amplifier.
  3. Ground Terminal: If your amplifier has a ground terminal, connect a ground wire from the turntable's ground terminal to the amplifier's ground terminal to minimize hum.
  4. USB-PC Output: To digitize your vinyl, connect a USB cable (not included) from the USB-PC port on the turntable to your computer.

5.5 Power Connection

  1. Connect the DC 12V power adapter to the "DC IN 12V" port on the rear of the turntable.
  2. Plug the adapter into a suitable wall outlet.
