1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SMEG CJF11 Citrus Juicer. This appliance combines vintage design with modern functionality, designed for efficient juicing of various citrus fruits. Please read this manual carefully before using the appliance to ensure safe and optimal operation. Keep this manual for future reference.

2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

  • Stainless Steel Strainer: Filters out pulp and seeds.

  • BPA-Free Tritan Dome Lid: Protects the juicer when not in use.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wash the reamer, strainer, juicing bowl, and dome lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble: Place the juicing bowl onto the motor base. Insert the strainer into the juicing bowl, ensuring it sits correctly. Place the reamer onto the central shaft of the strainer.
  4. Position: Place the assembled juicer on a stable, flat, and dry surface.
  5. Connect: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet (120V AC).

5. Operating Instructions

The SMEG CJF11 features one-touch automatic juicing for ease of use.

  1. Prepare Fruit: Cut citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits) in half.
  2. Position Glass: Ensure the anti-drip spout is in the down position and place a glass or container beneath it to collect the juice.
  3. Juice: Place a citrus half onto the reamer and gently press down. The motor will automatically activate.
  4. Release: Once juicing is complete, lift the fruit from the reamer. The motor will automatically stop.
  5. Serve: The fresh juice will flow directly into your glass. To stop the flow, simply flip the anti-drip spout upwards.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your juicer.

  • Motor Base: Wipe the motor base clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor base in water or any other liquid.
  • Removable Parts: The reamer, cover, filter (strainer), and juice collector (juicing bowl) can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Alternatively, wash them by hand in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.
  • Storage: Thoroughly dry all components before reassembling. Use the dome lid to cover the juicer when not in use to protect it from dust.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SMEG CJF11 Citrus Juicer, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Juicer does not start:
    • Ensure the appliance is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Verify that the juicing bowl and reamer are correctly assembled on the motor base.
    • The juicer activates when pressure is applied to the reamer. Ensure you are pressing down firmly enough on the citrus fruit.
  • Low juice yield:
    • Ensure you are applying consistent pressure to the fruit while juicing.
    • Rotate the fruit slightly on the reamer to extract maximum juice.
    • Use fresh, ripe citrus fruits for best results.
  • Juice leaks from the spout:
    • Ensure the anti-drip spout is fully in the down position when collecting juice.
    • After juicing, flip the spout upwards to prevent drips.
