1. Setup

1.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  • Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the radio.
  • Insert the provided 18650 Lithium-Ion battery, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
  • Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  • Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the Type-C port on the side of the radio and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).

1.2 External Antenna Connection

For improved reception, especially on Shortwave (SW) and Longwave (LW) bands, an external antenna can be connected.

  • Locate the external antenna jack on the side of the radio.
  • Plug the provided external antenna into this jack.
  • Extend the antenna fully and position it for optimal signal reception.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the Power button (usually red or orange) on the top right of the radio to turn it on or off.

The D808 supports multiple frequency bands. Use the dedicated buttons to switch between them:

  • FM: Frequency Modulation (64-108MHz)

2.3 Tuning Methods

The D808 offers several ways to tune into stations:

  • Manual Tuning Knob: Use the large tuning knob on the right side for precise frequency adjustment. It supports both fast and slow tuning speeds.
  • Fine Tune Knob: For SSB and very precise tuning, use the smaller "FINE TUNE" slider below the main tuning knob.
  • Direct Frequency Entry: Enter the desired frequency directly using the numerical keypad. Press the FREQ button, then input the frequency, and press ENTER (or the corresponding button).
  • Automatic Tuning Storage (ATS): Press and hold the FM SET or AM BW / FM ST button (depending on the band) to automatically scan and store available stations.
  • Memory Recall: The radio can store up to 500 stations. Use the PAGE and numerical buttons to recall saved frequencies.
