2. Important Safety Information
WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire, or injury to persons:
- This appliance is waterproof and suitable for use in a bath or shower. For safety reasons, the shaver can only be operated cordlessly.
- Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
- Keep the appliance and USB-A charging cable away from heated surfaces.
- Do not use the appliance with a damaged charging cable.
- Do not immerse the charging cable in water or any other liquid.

3. Setup and Charging
3.1 Charging the Shaver
Before first use, fully charge the shaver. A full charge provides approximately 60 minutes of cordless shaving time.
- Ensure the shaver is dry before charging.
- Connect the small end of the USB-A charging cable to the shaver's charging port.
- Connect the large end of the USB-A charging cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
- The battery indicator lights on the shaver will illuminate to show the charging progress. When fully charged, all lights will be solid.
- Disconnect the shaver from the power source once charging is complete.

4. Operating the Shaver
4.1 Shaving Techniques
The Philips Shaver Series 5000 is designed for both wet and dry shaving. For best results, ensure your skin is clean.
- Dry Shaving: For a quick shave, use the shaver on dry skin.
- Wet Shaving: For a more comfortable shave, use with shaving foam or gel, or in the shower.
Hold the shaver at a right angle to your skin and move it in small, circular motions. Apply gentle pressure. The shaver's flexible 360-degree heads adapt to your facial contours for optimal skin contact.

4.2 SkinIQ Technology and Power Adapt Sensor
The shaver features SkinIQ technology, which includes a Power Adapt sensor. This sensor reads your hair density 250 times per second and automatically adjusts the cutting power to ensure an efficient and comfortable shave, even on a 3-day beard.

4.3 Using the Concealed Trimmer
The shaver includes a concealed trimmer for precise grooming of sideburns and moustaches.
- To activate the trimmer, slide the trimmer release button upwards.
- Use the trimmer to shape and define edges.
- After use, slide the trimmer release button downwards to retract the trimmer.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and hygiene of your shaver.
5.1 Quick Clean Pod
The Quick Clean Pod provides a thorough and convenient cleaning solution for your shaver.
- Ensure the shaver is switched off.
- Open the Quick Clean Pod and insert a cleaning cartridge.
- Place the shaver head-down into the Quick Clean Pod.
- Press the power button on the shaver to start the cleaning cycle.
- The shaver will automatically clean and lubricate the shaving heads.
- Once the cycle is complete, remove the shaver and allow it to air dry.
5.2 Manual Cleaning
For a quick clean, rinse the shaver head under running water.
- Switch off the shaver.
- Press the release button to open the shaving head unit.
- Rinse the shaving head unit and the hair chamber under warm running water.
- Shake off excess water and allow the shaver to air dry.
- Close the shaving head unit.

5.3 Replacing Shaving Heads
For optimal shaving performance, replace the shaving heads approximately every 12 months. Replacement heads are available from Philips retailers.
- Switch off the shaver and disconnect it from the power supply.
- Open the shaving head unit.
- Remove the retaining ring by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Remove the old shaving heads.
- Insert the new shaving heads into the unit.
- Place the retaining ring back and turn it clockwise to secure.
- Close the shaving head unit.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your shaver, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions.
