1. Introduction

The POLONO PM220S is a portable thermal label printer designed for efficient and versatile labeling. Utilizing BPA-Free Direct Thermal Technology, it eliminates the need for ink or toner, providing clear and high-definition prints. This device offers seamless connectivity with smartphones (iOS & Android) via Bluetooth and with PCs via USB, managed through its dedicated application. Its compact design and user-friendly features make it suitable for various labeling needs in home, office, and small business environments.

3. Setup

3.1. Loading Label Tape

1. Gently open the top cover of the label maker.
2. Insert the label roll into the paper bin, ensuring the labels face upwards and the leading edge extends slightly out of the printer slot.
3. Adjust the paper slot guides to secure the label tape properly according to its width (23-54mm).
4. Close the top cover until it clicks into place.

3.2. Connecting to the App and PC

The PM220S supports both Bluetooth connectivity for mobile devices and USB connectivity for computers.

• For iOS & Android Mobile Phones: Download the "Labelnize" app from your device's app store. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the label maker via Bluetooth. Do NOT connect directly via your phone's Bluetooth settings.
• For PC (Windows/Mac): Visit polono.com to download the necessary driver and PC application for the PM220S. Install the driver and app, then connect the label maker to your computer using the provided USB Type-C cable.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Using the "Labelnize" App

The "Labelnize" app offers extensive features for label customization:

• Templates: Access a variety of free label templates for different purposes.
• Customization: Design your own labels with support for QR codes, Barcode Labels, Tables, Materials, Time, Figures, Text, and Icons.
• Fonts & Languages: Choose from over 90 fonts and 14 languages.
• Materials: Utilize over 450 material options for your labels.

4.2. Printing Labels

Once your label design is complete in the app or PC software:

1. Ensure the label maker is powered on and connected to your device.
2. Select your desired label design.
3. Adjust print settings such as number of copies and print density if available.
4. Initiate the print command from the app or software. The PM220S will print high-definition labels at 203 DPI without ink.

4.3. Screen Display Features

The integrated LED screen provides useful information at a glance:

• Battery Level: Clearly displays the current battery charge.
• Bluetooth Connection: Indicates when the device is successfully connected via Bluetooth.
• Paper Shortage Reminder: Alerts you when the label roll is running low.
• Timed Shutdown: Allows setting a timer for automatic power off to conserve battery.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Regularly wipe the exterior of the label maker with a soft, dry cloth. For the print head, use a specialized thermal printer cleaning pen or a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the device is off and cool before cleaning.
• Storage: Store the label maker and label rolls in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prevent damage to the labels and device.
• Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Charge it regularly, even if not in constant use.

6. Troubleshooting

• No Power: Ensure the device is charged. Connect it to a power source using the USB Type-C cable.
• Printing Issues (Blank/Faint): Check if the label roll is inserted correctly with the printable side facing the print head. Ensure the label roll is not expired or damaged.
• Connection Problems: For Bluetooth, ensure the "Labelnize" app is open and attempting to connect, and that you are not trying to pair directly through your phone's Bluetooth settings. For PC, verify the USB cable is securely connected and the correct driver is installed.
• Labels Not Feeding: Open the cover and ensure the label roll is properly seated and the paper slot guides are adjusted to the label width.
