3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully unpack the camera and all accessories. Verify that all components listed in the packaging are present and undamaged. If any items are missing or damaged, contact customer support immediately.

3.2 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery/card compartment cover on the side of the camera.
  2. Insert the supplied lithium-ion battery (DB-110) into the compartment, ensuring the correct orientation.
  3. Close the cover securely until it clicks into place.
  4. Connect the camera to a power source using the supplied USB cable and AC adapter to fully charge the battery before first use. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

3.3 Memory Card Insertion

  1. Open the battery/card compartment cover.
  2. Insert a compatible SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory card into the card slot with the label facing the correct direction.
  3. Close the cover securely.

3.4 Attaching the Neck Strap

Attach the supplied neck strap to the two strap lugs on the camera body for secure handling and to prevent accidental drops.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off.

4.2 Basic Photography

  1. Select Shooting Mode: Rotate the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode (e.g., Auto, Program, Scene).
  2. Focus: Point the camera at your subject. The camera will automatically focus. For macro shots, ensure the subject is at least 1cm away.
  3. Shoot: Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it fully to capture the image.

4.3 Using the Ring Light

The RICOH G900 II features a variable ring light around the lens for close-up illumination. This is particularly useful for macro photography or in low-light conditions. Refer to the camera's on-screen menu for specific controls to activate and adjust the ring light intensity.

4.4 Digital Blackboard and Camera Memo Functions

4.5 Lens Filter Attachment

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Camera

  • After use in harsh environments, especially underwater or dusty conditions, rinse the camera with fresh water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
  • For chemical disinfection, the camera is resistant to sodium hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide water. Follow proper disinfection protocols for your environment.
  • Use a lens brush or blower to remove dust from the lens. For stubborn smudges, use a lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth.

5.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid exposing the battery to extreme temperatures. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. Fully charge the battery before extended storage.
