2. Safety Information
WARNING: This device is a safety alarm. It is not a substitute for proper maintenance of fuel-burning appliances, including ventilation and exhaust systems. It is also not a substitute for a smoke detector.
- Do not paint the detector. Paint can clog the sensor openings and prevent the unit from functioning properly.
- Do not block the ventilation openings on the device.
- Test the detector regularly as instructed in this manual.
- Ensure the device is plugged into a functional electrical outlet. This device does not use batteries for primary power.
- In case of an alarm, follow emergency procedures immediately.
3. Product Overview and Features
The KOABBIT KH158 is a versatile 4-in-1 detector designed for comprehensive environmental monitoring. Its key features include:
- 4-in-1 Detection: Monitors Carbon Monoxide (CO), Combustible Gases (Natural Gas, Propane, Methane), Temperature (°F), and Humidity (RH%).
- Real-time Digital Display: Provides clear, instantaneous readings of all detected parameters.
- High Sensitivity Sensor: Equipped with a reliable, sensitive, and accurate sensor for early detection.
- Audible Alarm: Features an 85dB alarm to alert users when dangerous gas levels are detected.
- Test/Reset Button: Allows for manual testing of the alarm function and resetting the device.
- Plug-in Design: Easy to install by simply plugging into a standard electrical outlet.

4. Setup and Installation
The KOABBIT KH158 detector is designed for simple plug-and-play installation.
- Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the detector from its packaging.
- Choose a Location:
- Install in areas where gas or carbon monoxide leaks are possible, such as kitchens, near gas appliances (stoves, water heaters), or in living spaces.
- Avoid installing near windows, doors, or ventilation fans, as drafts can affect sensor readings.
- Ensure the detector is not obstructed by furniture or curtains.
- For optimal CO detection, install at chest height. For gas detection, install closer to the floor (for heavier-than-air gases like propane) or ceiling (for lighter-than-air gases like natural gas). This combined detector is best placed at a mid-level height.
- Plug In: Insert the detector into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. The plug is rotatable for flexible positioning.
- Initial Power-On: Upon plugging in, the device will perform a self-test, and the display will activate, showing initial readings for temperature, humidity, and gas levels. An audible welcome message may play.

5. Operating Instructions
Once plugged in, the detector continuously monitors the environment.
5.1. Display Readings
The digital display provides the following information:
- Temperature: Displayed in Fahrenheit (°F).
- Humidity: Displayed as Relative Humidity (RH%).
- Carbon Monoxide (CO): Displayed in Parts Per Million (PPM).
- Combustible Gas: Displayed as %LEL (Lower Explosive Limit).

5.2. Alarm Function
The detector will activate an 85dB audible alarm and flash the red ALARM light when detected gas levels exceed preset thresholds. The display will show the dangerous gas concentration.
- CO Alarm: Activates when carbon monoxide levels reach dangerous concentrations.
- Gas Alarm: Activates when combustible gas levels reach dangerous concentrations.
If the alarm sounds, immediately ventilate the area, evacuate all occupants, and contact emergency services or your gas provider.
5.3. Self-Test Button
Press the "SELF-TEST" button to manually test the alarm and display functions. The device will cycle through its indicators and sound the alarm briefly. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly.
6. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior of the detector with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents.
- Avoid Obstructions: Ensure the sensor openings are free from dust, dirt, or other obstructions.
- Monthly Testing: Press the "SELF-TEST" button at least once a month to ensure the alarm and display are working.
- Power Supply: Ensure the detector remains continuously plugged into a working electrical outlet.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector does not power on. | No power from outlet; faulty outlet. | Check the electrical outlet with another appliance. Try a different outlet. |
| Alarm sounds without apparent gas leak. | False alarm; sensor contamination; actual low-level leak. | Ventilate the area. Press the "SELF-TEST" button to reset. If alarm persists, treat as a real emergency. |
| Fault light is on. | Internal malfunction. | Unplug the device for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If the fault light remains, the unit may need replacement. |
| Display is dim or unreadable. | Device malfunction. | Ensure the device is fully plugged in. If the issue persists, the unit may need replacement. |
