1. Introduction

The eppfun AK3040Pro is a versatile USB-C Bluetooth 5.2 audio transmitter designed to provide high-quality, low-latency wireless audio. It supports multiple audio codecs including APTX Adaptive, APTX, APTX HD, and SBC, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of Bluetooth audio devices. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of your AK3040Pro transmitter.

2. System Compatibility

The AK3040Pro transmitter is compatible with the following systems and devices:

• Windows PCs (Windows 11/8.1/10/7/XP)
• Mac computers
• PlayStation 5 (PS5)
• Nintendo Switch
• iPhone 15/16/17/Pro/MAX series
• Android devices (requires USB-C interface to support DP technical protocol for audio transmission)

Note:

• The AK3040Pro supports pairing with up to two Bluetooth audio devices simultaneously.
• Maximum range for a single device is 10 meters.
• Maximum range for two simultaneously connected devices is 4 meters.
• This device only supports audio transmission. It cannot be used for keyboards, mouse devices, TVs, cars, game controllers (for control input), or data transfer.

3. Setup and Pairing

3.1 Initial Setup (Plug and Play)

The eppfun AK3040Pro is designed for plug-and-play operation. No driver installation is required for most compatible devices.

1. Insert the AK3040Pro USB-C transmitter into a compatible USB-C port on your device (e.g., PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, smartphone).
2. The LED indicator on the transmitter will begin to flash red and blue, indicating it is in pairing mode.

3.2 Pairing with Bluetooth Audio Devices

To connect your Bluetooth headphones or speakers:

1. Ensure your Bluetooth headphones or speakers are in pairing mode. Refer to your audio device's manual for instructions on how to enter pairing mode.
2. The AK3040Pro will automatically search for and connect to nearby Bluetooth audio devices in pairing mode.
3. Once successfully paired, the LED indicator on the AK3040Pro will remain steadily lit (color depends on the active audio codec).

3.3 Pairing a Second Device

To pair a second Bluetooth audio device:

1. After the first device is successfully paired, press and hold the LOGO button on the AK3040Pro for 2 seconds. The LED indicator will flash red and blue again.
2. Put your second Bluetooth audio device into pairing mode.
3. The AK3040Pro will connect to the second device. Both devices will then be connected simultaneously.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Audio Codec Switching

The AK3040Pro supports multiple audio codecs. The active codec is indicated by the color of the LED light. You can cycle through the available codecs by pressing the LOGO button on the transmitter.

• Yellow-Green Light: APTX-Adaptive
• Green Light: APTX HD
• Purple Light: APTX
• Blue Light: SBC

Codec Switching Order:

APTX Adaptive → APTX HD → APTX → SBC

Important Note:

For optimal performance, both the AK3040Pro transmitter and your Bluetooth audio device must support the same audio codec. Please verify the supported codecs of your headphones or speakers before use.

4.2 PC Call Mode

When connected to a Windows PC and used with communication applications such as Skype, Zoom, Teams, or Meet, the AK3040Pro Bluetooth adapter automatically switches between music mode and call mode to optimize audio quality for voice communication.

4.3 Using the 3.5mm Mini Microphone

The included 3.5mm mini microphone is an additional audio accessory and does not utilize Bluetooth functionality. It is designed for devices that have a 3.5mm port but lack a built-in microphone, such as some PS5 game controllers.

1. Insert the 3.5mm mini microphone into the 3.5mm audio jack of your device.
2. This enables voice calls or chat functionality through the connected device.

5. Maintenance

The eppfun AK3040Pro requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:

• Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
• Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
• Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device, as this will void the warranty.
• Store the transmitter in a safe place when not in use to prevent physical damage.

6.1 No Audio or Connection Issues

• Check Pairing Mode: Ensure both the AK3040Pro (flashing red and blue LED) and your audio device are in pairing mode.
• Clear Pairing Information: If your headset is already paired with another Bluetooth device and cannot connect to the AK3040Pro, you must clear the headset's pairing information first. Refer to your headset's manual for instructions.
• Codec Compatibility: Verify that your audio device supports one of the codecs (APTX Adaptive/APTX/APTX HD/SBC) supported by the AK3040Pro.
• Range: Ensure your audio device is within the effective range (10m for single, 4m for dual connection) of the transmitter.
• Device Output: Confirm that the host device (PC, PS5, Switch) is set to output audio through the USB-C port where the AK3040Pro is connected.

6.2 Experiencing Latency

• Latency can vary depending on the processing speed of the connected device and the active audio codec. APTX Adaptive and APTX provide lower latency compared to SBC.
• Ensure your audio device supports APTX Adaptive for the lowest possible latency.
• Minimize interference by keeping other wireless devices away from the transmitter and receiver.

6.3 Current Noise During Use

• If you experience current noise, try switching to a different audio decoding mode supported by your earphones. This can sometimes resolve interference issues.
