1. Setup and Assembly

Your ProBasics Full Electric Hospital Bed is designed for easy assembly. Please follow these steps carefully to ensure proper setup and safe operation.

1.1 Unboxing and Component Check

Upon delivery, you will receive four main boxes containing the bed components:

Before beginning assembly, confirm all parts are present as listed in the diagram below. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact customer support immediately.

1.2 Mattress Unpacking

Locate the smallest rectangular box containing the foam mattress. Carefully open the box, ensuring not to cut the mattress itself. Once removed, stand the rolled mattress on its side and gently unwrap the outer plastic layer by hand. Avoid using sharp objects to prevent damage. Allow the mattress 6-8 hours to fully inflate after unboxing.

1.3 Bed Frame Assembly

Remove the head and foot spring sections from the largest box. Position them approximately 90 degrees from each other on a flat surface. Ensure the motor mount cams are perpendicular for proper alignment.

This video demonstrates the unboxing of bed components, mattress unpacking, and initial bed frame assembly steps.

To connect the head and foot spring fabrics, push the head wing and foot wing closer together. An important tip for easier attachment is to collapse the ends of the bed together so the springs are not under tension.

Insert the drive shaft, previously assembled, under the springs and attach it to the gear box on the footboard. The silver end of the drive shaft connects to the taller headboard end.

1.4 Caster Wheels Installation

Locate the locking and non-locking caster wheels in your packaging. Insert the caster stem into the leg receptacle. It is important to always install locking casters diagonally from one another for stability.

1.5 Head and Foot Board Installation

The headboard is the taller of the two bed ends. The foot end of the bed is the one with the motor attached. Insert the headboard into the designated slots on the bed frame. Ensure the hooks on both sides are fully engaged and seated securely with the two locking rivets on each side of the bed frame. Repeat the same steps for the footboard.

1.6 Motor Box Assembly

First, connect the high/low motor plug into the receptacle on the motor box assembly. Carefully slide the locking caps off the motor box assembly. Align the motor with the actuator rod and gently tap until it is secured. Replace the locking caps on the motor.

For emergency lowering during a power outage, the bed can be equipped with two 9-volt batteries (not included). These batteries allow for one-time lowering of the head and foot sections. Replace the 9-volt batteries annually or after battery operation has been used to lower the bed.

1.7 Safety Rails Assembly

Locate the half rail marking on the bed frame. Attach the movable clamp jaw over the deck angle with the threaded rod facing outward. Position the half rail with the fixed clamp jaw toward the bed and rails facing outward. Install the spacer with the larger diameter hole facing outward, then slide it over the threaded rod, followed by the knob. Hand tighten until firmly secured. Repeat for the other side.

2. Operating Instructions

Once your bed is fully assembled and the mattress is in place, you are ready to operate your ProBasics Full Electric Bed. Use the hand pendant to control the bed's movements.

The hand pendant allows you to independently raise or lower the head and foot sections of the bed, as well as adjust the overall bed height. Familiarize yourself with each button's function for comfortable and safe positioning.

The full electric bed is equipped with a removable manual hand crank that may be used when either electric or battery power is unavailable. The hand crank only raises or lowers the bed deck in the event of a power outage; it will not raise or lower the head or foot springs.
