Setup and Installation

Tools Required:

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill (if new door preparation is needed)
  • Wood Chisel (if new door preparation is needed)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has the standard bore holes for a knob lock (typically 2-1/8 inch diameter for the knob and 1 inch diameter for the latch). The backset (distance from door edge to center of knob hole) should be 2-3/8 inches or 2-3/4 inches.
  2. Install the Latch Mechanism: Insert the latch mechanism into the edge bore hole of the door. Ensure the bevel of the latch bolt faces the door frame. Secure it with the provided screws.
  3. Install the Exterior Knob: Insert the exterior knob assembly through the larger bore hole from the outside of the door. Ensure the spindle aligns with the latch mechanism.
  4. Install the Interior Knob: Place the interior knob assembly onto the spindle from the inside of the door. Align the mounting posts with the holes on the exterior knob assembly.
  5. Secure the Knobs: Fasten the interior and exterior knob assemblies together using the long mounting screws. Tighten them evenly until the knob is secure but can still turn freely. Do not overtighten.
  6. Install the Strike Plate: Mark the position for the strike plate on the door frame, aligning it with the latch bolt. Chisel out a shallow recess if necessary and secure the strike plate with screws.
  7. Test Operation: Close the door and test the knob's operation from both sides. Ensure the latch retracts smoothly and the lock engages correctly.
