3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your TOPDON CarPal-US OBD2 Code Reader:

1. Download the CarPal App: Search for "CarPal" on the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices) and install the application on your smartphone.

2. Connect to Vehicle: Locate your vehicle's OBD2 port. This port is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. Plug the CarPal-US device firmly into the OBD2 port.
3. Power On Vehicle: Turn your vehicle's ignition to the "ON" position (engine off) or start the engine, as required by the app for full system access.
4. Pair via Bluetooth: Open the CarPal app on your smartphone. The app will guide you through the Bluetooth pairing process. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
5. Select Vehicle Brand & Download Software: Upon successful pairing, the app may prompt you to select your vehicle's brand and download specific diagnostic software. The CarPal-US supports up to three different vehicle brands simultaneously.

4. Operation

• Reading and Clearing DTCs:
  • After a scan, the app will display any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) found. Tap on a specific DTC for detailed information, including probable causes, probable signs, and repair steps.
  • To clear DTCs, ensure the ignition is ON and the engine is OFF (unless specified otherwise by the app). Select the "Clear DTC" option within the app. Clearing codes will turn off the Check Engine Light (CEL) if the underlying issue has been resolved.
• Maintenance Services: Access the "Maintenance" section to perform specific reset functions:
  • Oil Reset: Resets the engine oil life system after an oil change.
  • TPMS Reset: Resets the Tire Pressure Monitoring System after tire rotation or replacement.
  • EPB Reset: Resets the Electronic Parking Brake system after brake pad replacement.
  • BMS Reset: Resets the Battery Management System after battery replacement.
  • Throttle Adaptation: Relearns the throttle body position after cleaning or replacement.
