3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Main Display Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert 3 x AAA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
  2. Remote Sensors: Open the battery compartment on the back of each remote sensor. Insert 2 x AAA batteries (not included) into each sensor, observing correct polarity. Close the compartments.

3.2 Sensor Placement

Place the remote sensors inside your refrigerator and freezer. The sensors are designed to withstand cold temperatures. Ensure they are not obstructed by food items or placed directly against cooling vents, which could affect accuracy. The detachable hook allows for hanging the sensor from a shelf or rack.

3.3 Initial Pairing

The main display unit and remote sensors are typically pre-paired at the factory. Once batteries are installed in all units, the main display should automatically receive temperature readings from the sensors within a few minutes. If readings do not appear, ensure all units are within range and batteries are correctly installed.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Overview

Image: The main display unit with numbered labels pointing to different sections of the screen, explaining what each indicator represents.

  1. Freezer Temperature: Current temperature reading for the freezer sensor.
  2. Freezer Alarm Icon: Indicates if the freezer temperature alarm is active.
  3. Freezer MAX Temperature: Highest recorded freezer temperature.
  4. Freezer MIN Temperature: Lowest recorded freezer temperature.
  5. Refrigerator Temperature: Current temperature reading for the refrigerator sensor.
  6. Refrigerator Alarm Icon: Indicates if the refrigerator temperature alarm is active.
  7. Refrigerator MAX Temperature: Highest recorded refrigerator temperature.
  8. Refrigerator MIN Temperature: Lowest recorded refrigerator temperature.

4.2 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

Press the °C/°F button located on the back of the main display unit to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.

4.3 MAX/MIN Temperature Records

The display automatically shows the maximum (MAX) and minimum (MIN) temperatures recorded for both channels. These records can be for the last 24 hours or since the last manual reset. To reset the MAX/MIN records, press and hold the CLEAR button (if available, otherwise consult the specific button on your device, usually combined with SET or MODE).

4.4 Setting Temperature Alarms

The thermometer allows you to set custom upper and lower temperature limits for each channel. If the temperature goes outside these limits, an audible alarm will sound.

Image: The main display unit showing an active alarm icon with a bell and "ON" indicator, illustrating the upper/lower limit alarm feature. Below, images of food items in a refrigerator/freezer emphasize the importance of temperature monitoring.

  1. Press the SET button to enter alarm setting mode.
  2. Use the UP or DOWN buttons (or similar navigation buttons) to adjust the desired upper and lower temperature limits for the freezer channel.
  3. Press SET again to switch to the refrigerator channel and repeat the adjustment.
  4. Press SET one more time to confirm settings and exit alarm mode.
  5. To enable/disable the alarm, there is usually a dedicated alarm button or a long press on the SET button. Refer to the specific button layout on your device.

The device features a delay alarm function, typically 2 minutes, to prevent immediate alarms from minor, temporary temperature fluctuations (e.g., opening the door briefly).

4.5 Backlight Function

The display unit features a 10-second backlight. Press any button to activate the backlight for temporary illumination.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries in the respective unit (main unit or sensor). Use new AAA batteries and ensure correct polarity. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.

5.2 Cleaning

Wipe the main display unit and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the units in water. Ensure the units are dry before re-inserting batteries or placing them in use.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Temperature Reading / Display Blank:
    • Check if batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the main unit and sensors are within wireless range (typically up to 100 feet in open air, less with obstructions).
    • Try re-pairing by removing and re-inserting batteries in both the main unit and sensors.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure sensors are not placed directly against cooling elements or vents.
    • Verify that the sensors are not submerged in liquid.
    • Compare readings with another known accurate thermometer.
  • Alarm Sounds Continuously:
    • Check the current temperature against the set alarm limits.
    • Adjust alarm limits if they are too narrow or inappropriate for your appliance.
    • Ensure the refrigerator/freezer door is properly closed.
