2. Safety Information

5.1 Battery Installation

This chainsaw is compatible with DeWalt 18-21V batteries (e.g., DCB200, DCB201, DCB203, DCB204, DCB205, DCB206, DCB230, DCB240, DCB246, DCB248, DCBP520). The battery is not included with the tool.

1. Ensure the chainsaw is turned off and the safety switch is engaged.
2. Align the battery with the battery port on the bottom of the chainsaw handle.
3. Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
4. To remove the battery, press the release button(s) on the battery and slide it out.

4. Tighten the chain adjustment knob until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand. The chain should not sag from the bottom of the guide bar.
5. After initial use, check chain tension again as new chains can stretch.

5.3 Bar and Chain Oiling

IMPORTANT: This chainsaw does not have an automatic oil reservoir. The bar and chain must be manually oiled before and during use to ensure proper lubrication and prevent premature wear.

1. Before each use, apply a suitable bar and chain oil directly to the guide bar groove and the chain links.

6.1 Starting and Stopping

3. Press the trigger switch to start the chainsaw. The chain will begin to move.
4. Release the trigger switch to stop the chainsaw.
5. Disengage the safety switch when not actively cutting.

• Always maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw handle, unless performing specific tasks that allow for safe one-handed operation.
• Position the chainsaw so that the chain makes contact with the wood at a stable angle.
• Allow the chainsaw to do the work; do not force it through the wood. Excessive pressure can lead to kickback or damage to the tool.
• Be aware of potential kickback, which can occur if the tip of the guide bar contacts an object or if the wood closes in and pinches the chain.
• For branches under tension, make an undercut first to prevent pinching, then complete the cut from the top.

7.1 Cleaning

1. Always remove the battery before cleaning.
