  1. Locate the power port on the reel.
  2. Connect the reel's power cable to the port, ensuring a snug fit.
  3. Connect the other end of the power cable to a compatible 12V DC power source (e.g., a fishing boat battery). Ensure correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
  4. Verify that the digital display on the reel illuminates, indicating power is supplied.

4.3 Winding Fishing Line

  1. Thread the fishing line through the rod guides and tie it securely to the reel spool.
  2. Engage the clutch and begin winding the line onto the spool, ensuring even distribution.
  3. Refer to the line capacity specifications (e.g., Braid 5-350m, Nylon 6-330m) to avoid overfilling or underfilling the spool.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: The reel powers on automatically when connected to a power source. Disconnect the power cable to turn off.
  • Clutch Lever: Use the clutch lever to engage or disengage the spool for casting or free-spooling.
  • Handle: Manually retrieve line using the handle.
  • Digital Display: Shows line counter, depth, and other operational information.

5.2 Electric Winding

  1. Ensure the clutch is engaged.
  2. Press the PICKUP button to start electric winding. The reel will retrieve line at a controlled speed.
  3. Adjust the winding speed if available (refer to specific model features for speed control).
  4. Press the PICKUP button again or use the manual handle to stop electric winding.

5.3 Drag Adjustment

The drag system controls the resistance on the line when a fish pulls. Adjust the drag according to the target fish and line strength.

  1. Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase drag tension.
  2. Turn the drag knob counter-clockwise to decrease drag tension.
  3. Test the drag setting by pulling line from the spool to ensure it's smooth and appropriate.

5.4 Digital Display Functions

  • MODE Button: Cycles through different display modes (e.g., depth, line counter, battery level).
  • RESET Button: Resets the line counter or other displayed values.
  • MEMO Button: Saves or recalls specific depth settings (if applicable).

6. Maintenance

6.1 After Each Use

  • Rinse the reel thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Do not submerge the reel.
  • Wipe the reel dry with a soft cloth.
  • Apply a light coat of reel oil to moving parts and grease to gears as recommended by Daiwa.

6.2 Periodic Maintenance

  • Inspect the power cable for any signs of wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Check all screws and fasteners for tightness.
  • For deep cleaning or internal lubrication, it is recommended to send the reel to an authorized Daiwa service center.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Reel does not power on. Loose power cable connection, dead battery, incorrect polarity. Check cable connections, ensure battery is charged, verify correct polarity.
Electric winding is weak or inconsistent. Low battery power, motor obstruction, internal issue. Charge battery, check for line tangles or debris, contact service if problem persists.
Line counter is inaccurate. Incorrect line setting, sensor issue. Reset the line counter (RESET button), ensure correct line diameter is set (if applicable).
Drag is not smooth. Dry drag washers, debris in drag system. Clean and re-lubricate drag washers (refer to maintenance), or seek professional service.

If you encounter problems not listed here or if solutions do not resolve the issue, please contact Daiwa customer support or an authorized service center.
