2.3 Magnetic Attachment
The PF20 SSD features a magnetic design for convenient attachment to devices. For iPhones with MagSafe support or MagSafe-compatible cases, the SSD will attach directly. For other phones or cases without built-in magnets, use the included magnetic ring.
- For MagSafe Devices: Simply align the SSD with the back of your MagSafe-compatible iPhone or case until it snaps into place.
- For Non-MagSafe Devices: Attach the magnetic ring to the back of your phone or phone case. Ensure the ring is centered for optimal magnetic hold. Then, attach the SSD to the magnetic ring.

3. Operating the SSD
3.1 Data Transfer
Once connected, the Yottamaster PF20 operates as a standard external storage device. You can drag and drop files between your device and the SSD. For optimal transfer speeds, ensure your device and cable support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

4. Performance Considerations
To maximize the speed of your Yottamaster PF20 SSD, the following conditions should be considered:
- Achieving 20Gbps Speed: To reach a speed of 20Gbps during use, three conditions must be met:
- Device Interface: The connected device must support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. While the PF20 is backward compatible, the transfer rate will match the maximum speed the interface can handle.
- Data Cable: The data cable used must support a transfer rate of 20Gbps.
- Connected Device Speed: The connected device itself must be capable of reaching read/write speeds of 2000MB/s.
- Phone Compatibility and Speed: When using the PF20 with a phone, these conditions also apply. Otherwise, the transfer rate will only reach the maximum speed the phone's interface can handle. For example, when used with the iPhone 16 Pro/Max, the maximum speed can reach 10Gbps, while the iPhone 16/15 can only reach the USB 2.0 transfer speed of 480Mbps.

5. Maintenance and Care
- Handle with Care: Avoid dropping or subjecting the SSD to strong impacts.
- Keep Clean: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Avoid liquid cleaners.
- Temperature: Operate and store the SSD within recommended temperature ranges to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Safe Ejection: Always safely eject the SSD from your device before disconnecting to prevent data corruption.
- Magnetic Ring: If using the magnetic ring, ensure it is securely attached to your device or case to prevent accidental detachment of the SSD.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Slow Transfer Speeds
- Check Device/Cable: Verify that both your host device and the USB-C data cable support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 for maximum 20Gbps speeds. Older USB standards will result in lower speeds.
- Device Performance: Ensure your device's hardware (CPU, RAM) and software are not bottlenecking the transfer process.
- File Type: Transferring many small files can be slower than transferring a single large file of the same total size.
6.2 SSD Not Detected
- Reconnect: Disconnect and reconnect the SSD and cable to your device.
- Try Different Port/Cable: Test with a different USB-C port on your device or a different compatible USB-C cable.
- Check Device Manager (Windows) / Disk Utility (macOS): Verify if the SSD is recognized by your operating system. It might need initialization or formatting if it's a new drive or has been used on a different OS.
- Power: Ensure the device provides sufficient power to the SSD.
6.3 Magnetic Attachment Issues
- Case Thickness: Thick phone cases may weaken the magnetic connection. Consider using the included magnetic ring for enhanced grip.
- Proper Placement: Ensure the SSD or magnetic ring is correctly aligned with the MagSafe area on your iPhone or case.
