  2. Connect Display: Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on the extractor to your display device (e.g., TV, monitor, projector).
  3. Connect Audio Output:
    • For 5.1CH audio (Dolby Digital, DTS), connect an optical cable from the OPTICAL port to your soundbar or AV receiver.
    • For 2.1CH stereo audio, connect a 3.5mm audio cable from the STEREO port to your headphones or stereo speakers.
    • For 7.1CH audio, use the HDMI OUT port to connect directly to a compatible AV receiver or sound system.
  4. Power On: Connect the provided Type-C cable to the POWER/FW port on the extractor and then to a 5V USB power source (e.g., TV USB port, USB wall adapter). The device will power on automatically.
  5. Configure EDID (if necessary): Adjust the EDID DIP switches on the extractor according to your desired audio and video output settings. Refer to the "Operating Instructions: EDID Configuration" section for details.
  6. Verify Connection: Ensure all devices are powered on and correctly configured. You should now receive video on your display and audio through your selected audio output.

Operating Instructions: EDID Configuration

The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) DIP switches allow you to control the video and audio capabilities reported to the source device. This is crucial for ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.

Detailed diagram of EDID DIP switch settings for HDCP, Downscaling, and EDID combinations, showing various configurations for different video and audio outputs.

Image: A detailed guide to the EDID DIP switch settings. It categorizes the switches into three control areas: HDCP, Downscaling (Scaler), and EDID combination. Various switch configurations are shown for different output scenarios, including 4K60Hz 4:2:0 DTS/Dolby/PCM 7.1 CH HDR, 4K60Hz 4:4:4 Dolby Vision & Atmos, and 1080P60Hz 2CH 3D HDR.

The DIP switches are divided into three independent control areas:

  • HDCP: Controls HDCP bypass.
  • SCALER: Controls video downscaling (e.g., 4K to 1080P).
  • EDID Combination: Configures the reported audio and video capabilities.

Refer to the diagram above for specific switch combinations for desired outputs. Some common EDID audio modes are:

Diagram showing EDID Audio Mode Switch settings for Copy Mode, 2CH Mode, and 5.1CH Mode, with corresponding DIP switch configurations.

Image: This image details the EDID Audio Mode Switch settings. It illustrates three main modes: Copy Mode (EDID Mode 1: ON,OFF,OFF,OFF,OFF), 2CH Mode (EDID Mode 2: ON,ON,OFF,OFF,ON), and 5.1CH Mode (EDID Mode 3: ON,ON,ON,OFF). Each mode is accompanied by a visual representation of the speaker setup it supports.

  • Copy Mode (EDID Mode 1: ON,OFF,OFF,OFF,OFF): The extractor copies the EDID from the HDMI OUT display. This is often the default or recommended setting if your display supports all desired formats.
  • 2CH Mode (EDID Mode 2: ON,ON,OFF,OFF,ON): Forces the source to output 2-channel LPCM audio, suitable for stereo headphones or 2.1CH speakers connected to the 3.5mm output. Note: When switching to 2CH, please set the audio output format of the input source to LPCM/PCM.
  • 5.1CH Mode (EDID Mode 3: ON,ON,ON,OFF): Forces the source to output 5.1-channel audio, suitable for soundbars or receivers connected via the Optical S/PDIF port. Note: When switching to 5.1CH, please set the audio output format of the input source to LPCM/PCM.

Important: Always power cycle the source device and the extractor after changing DIP switch settings to ensure the new EDID is properly detected.

Maintenance

  • Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity.
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.

Troubleshooting

No Video Output:
  • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
  • Verify the power adapter is connected and the device is powered on.
  • Try a different HDMI cable. High-quality HDMI 2.1 cables (less than 10ft/3m) are recommended for 4K@60Hz.
  • Adjust the EDID DIP switches. Try "Copy Mode" first, or a specific video mode that matches your display's capabilities.
  • Power cycle all connected devices (source, extractor, display).
No Audio Output:
  • Check audio cable connections (Optical or 3.5mm).
  • Ensure your audio receiver/soundbar is set to the correct input.
  • Verify the EDID DIP switches are set correctly for your desired audio format (e.g., 2CH for stereo, 5.1CH for optical).
  • If using Optical S/PDIF, remember it supports only up to 5.1CH. For 7.1CH, use the HDMI OUT directly to a compatible receiver.
  • If using 3.5mm L/R Out, there will be no sound if the source audio is set above 5.1CH.
  • Ensure the source device's audio output settings match the EDID configuration (e.g., LPCM/PCM for 2CH/5.1CH modes).
  • The device does NOT support ARC or e-ARC.
HDCP Errors or Intermittent Signal:
  • Ensure your HDMI cables are HDCP 2.2/2.3 compliant.
  • Try adjusting the HDCP DIP switch setting on the extractor.
  • Power cycle all devices in the chain (source, extractor, receiver, TV).
  • If connecting to an older receiver, the extractor can help bypass HDCP conflicts by being placed between the source and the receiver, then the receiver to the TV.
4K Content Not Displaying Correctly:
  • Ensure your display and HDMI cables support 4K@60Hz and HDR.
  • Check the EDID DIP switch settings to ensure 4K HDR modes are enabled.
  • If your display is 1080P, ensure the Scaler DIP switch is set to downscale 4K to 1080P.

Important Notes and Limitations

  • The S/PDIF (Optical) port supports 5.1CH audio only. For 7.1CH audio, please use the HDMI OUT port to connect to a compatible receiver.
  • This device does NOT support ARC (Audio Return Channel) or e-ARC.
  • When the source audio is set above 5.1CH, there will be no sound from the 3.5mm L/R Out port.
  • For optimal performance with 4K@60Hz, it is highly recommended to use qualified HDMI 2.1 cables less than 10 feet (3 meters) in length.
