3.2 Outdoor Multi-Sensor Array

The outdoor sensor array is designed to measure various environmental parameters:

  • Rainfall Collector: Measures precipitation.
  • Solar Panel: Powers the sensor and charges internal capacitors.
  • Temperature & Humidity Sensor: Measures ambient temperature and relative humidity.
  • Wind Speed Anemometer: Measures wind velocity.
  • Wind Direction Vane: Indicates wind direction.
  • Battery Compartment: Requires 3xAA batteries (not included) for operation.

3.3 Display Layout

Front view of the indoor display unit showing various weather data and forecast icons.

The image above displays the main screen of the indoor unit, showing the layout of various weather data and forecast icons. The display includes sections for weather forecast, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, outdoor and indoor temperature and humidity, current time, and barometric pressure. Weather forecast icons are also shown below the main display, indicating Sunny, Slightly cloudy, Cloudy, Rainy, Heavy rainy, and Snowy conditions.

4. Setup

4.1 Outdoor Sensor Installation

  1. Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the outdoor multi-sensor array and insert 3xAA batteries (not included), observing correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Mounting: Mount the outdoor sensor in an open location, away from obstructions, to ensure accurate readings for wind, rain, and temperature. Ensure the wind vane and anemometer can rotate freely. The solar panel should face south for optimal sunlight exposure.

4.2 Indoor Display Unit Power

  1. Connect Power Adapter: Plug the provided 5V/1.2A power adapter into the indoor display unit and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Optional Battery Backup: For backup power during outages, insert 3xAAA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the rear of the indoor unit.

4.3 Sensor Pairing

Diagram illustrating wireless signal transmission between the outdoor sensor and indoor display unit.

The image above demonstrates the wireless signal transmission between the outdoor sensor and the indoor display unit. The system operates on a 433.92MHz RF transmitting frequency, with a transmission range of up to 100 meters (300 feet) in an open area, not including walls or floors. Ensure the indoor unit is placed within this range for optimal signal reception.

  • Once both units are powered, the indoor display unit will automatically search for and connect to the outdoor sensor. This process may take a few minutes.
  • Ensure the indoor unit is placed within 100 meters (300 feet) of the outdoor sensor, minimizing obstacles like thick walls or large metal objects that could interfere with the 433.92 MHz wireless signal.
  • If the connection is not established, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Display Functions

The main display provides real-time data for various weather parameters:

  • Weather Forecast: Icons predict weather for the next 12-24 hours.
  • Rainfall: Displays current and historical precipitation data.
  • Wind Speed & Direction: Shows current wind conditions.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Temperature & Humidity: Current readings for both locations.
  • Time & Date: Current time, day, and date.
  • Barometric Pressure: Current atmospheric pressure.
  • Moon Phase: Displays the current phase of the moon.

5.2 Weather Forecast Interpretation

Weather forecast icons displayed on the indoor unit.

The image above shows the weather forecast icons. The weather station predicts the weather for approximately the next 12 hours based on changes in barometric pressure. The icons include: Sunny, Slightly cloudy, Cloudy, Rainy, Heavy rainy, and Snowy. These are predictions and may not always perfectly match actual conditions.

5.3 Alarm Function and Backlight

Indoor unit display showing alarm function and backlight brightness adjustment levels.

The image above illustrates the alarm function and backlight adjustment. The color LED display offers adjustable brightness levels: 100%, 70%, 40%, and 10%. The Snooze/Backlight button (marked with a sun and 'zZ' icon) is used to cycle through brightness levels and activate the snooze feature when an alarm sounds.

Indoor unit display showing two programmable alarms for weekdays and weekends.

The image above demonstrates the humanized alarm function, allowing users to set two separate alarm clocks. For example, Alarm 1 can be set for weekdays (M-F) at 7:30 AM, and Alarm 2 for weekends (S-S) at 8:30 AM. Consult the function buttons on the side of the unit to set these alarms according to your schedule.

5.4 Wind Speed and Direction

Outdoor sensor and indoor display showing wind speed and direction data.

The image above highlights the wind speed and direction display. In real-time mode, the unit can display the average wind speed over the past 30 seconds, as well as the highest wind speed and direction recorded in the past hour. The display shows wind speed in km/h and direction in degrees (e.g., 337° for NNW).

6. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace the 3xAA batteries in the outdoor sensor annually, or when the low battery indicator appears on the indoor display. Replace the 3xAAA backup batteries in the indoor unit as needed.
  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the rain gauge funnel and the solar panel on the outdoor sensor to prevent blockages and ensure optimal performance. Use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Sensor Placement: Regularly check that the outdoor sensor remains securely mounted and free from obstructions that could affect readings.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Outdoor Data Displayed:
    • Check if the outdoor sensor batteries are correctly installed and not depleted.
    • Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the 100-meter (300-foot) wireless range of the indoor unit.
    • Reduce obstacles between the sensor and the display unit (e.g., thick walls, electronic devices).
    • Try resetting both units by removing power/batteries, waiting a few seconds, and then re-powering the outdoor sensor first, followed by the indoor unit.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Temperature/Humidity: Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight (unless designed for it, like the solar panel) or near heat sources/vents.
    • Rainfall: Check the rain gauge for debris or blockages.
    • Wind: Verify that the wind vane and anemometer are rotating freely and are not obstructed.
  • Display Not Working:
    • Check the power adapter connection.
    • Ensure backup batteries (if installed) are not depleted.
