2. Setup Guide
2.1 Unpacking and Initial Placement
Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Ensure all protective tapes and packing materials are removed from the exterior and interior of the printer. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface with adequate space around it for ventilation and operation.
2.2 Power Connection
Connect the provided power cable to the printer's power input and then to a grounded electrical outlet. Do not power on the printer until instructed to do so during the ink filling process.
2.3 Ink Filling
The SureColor F170 uses high-capacity ink bottles. Follow these steps to fill the ink tanks:
- Open the ink tank unit cover on the side of the printer.
- Uncap the ink bottle for the corresponding color (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow). Each bottle is keyed to fit only its correct tank to prevent accidental misfilling.
- Insert the ink bottle into the tank's filling port. The ink will automatically begin to fill the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle.
- Once the tank is full, the ink flow will stop automatically. Remove the bottle and recap it.
- Repeat for all colors.
- Close the ink tank unit cover.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Epson SureColor F170 printer.
4.1 Checking and Refilling Ink Levels
Monitor ink levels regularly via the printer's control panel or the printer status monitor on your computer. Refill ink tanks promptly when levels are low using genuine Epson dye-sublimation ink bottles to prevent air from entering the ink lines and ensure consistent print quality.
4.2 Print Head Cleaning
If you notice missing lines or gaps in your prints, perform a print head cleaning. This can be initiated from the printer's control panel or through the printer utility software on your computer. This process clears clogged nozzles and restores print quality.
4.3 Nozzle Check
Before performing a print head cleaning, run a nozzle check to confirm which nozzles are clogged. This helps determine if cleaning is necessary and if the cleaning cycle was effective.
4.4 General Cleaning
Periodically wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the paper path clear of dust and debris.
