1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Hiwill 5.1ch Dolby Sound Bar. This system is designed to provide an immersive home theater experience with powerful surround sound. It includes a sound bar, a wired subwoofer, and two wired surround speakers, offering versatile connectivity options for your smart TV, gaming console, PC, and other devices.

Key features include Dolby Audio enhancement for clear sound, a 6.5-inch wired subwoofer for deep bass, 12-level adjustable bass and treble, three EQ modes (Music, Movie, News), and multiple input options such as HDMI ARC, Optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before using this product. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Power Source: Only use the power adapter supplied with the unit. Ensure the voltage matches your local power supply.
  • Ventilation: Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not expose this appliance to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus.
  • Heat: Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  • Cables: Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

3. Setup Guide

3.1. Package Contents

Before beginning installation, please check the contents of your package:

  • Sound Bar

3.2. Placement

For optimal sound performance, consider the following placement guidelines:

  • Sound Bar: Place the sound bar centrally below your TV, either on a TV stand or mounted on the wall.
  • Subwoofer: Position the subwoofer on the floor, preferably in a corner or near a wall, to enhance bass response.
  • Surround Speakers: Place the two surround speakers behind your listening position, to the left and right, for an immersive 5.1 channel experience. Ensure they are connected to the main sound bar unit.

3.3. Connections

Follow these steps to connect your sound bar system:

  1. Connect Subwoofer: Plug one end of the power cable into the subwoofer, then connect the 2-in-1 cable from the subwoofer to the "BASS OUT" port on the sound bar.
  2. Connect Surround Speakers: Connect the wired surround speakers to the "SR OUT" (Surround Right) and "SL OUT" (Surround Left) ports on the back of the sound bar.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the "DC IN" port on the sound bar, then plug it into a wall outlet.
  4. Audio Connection to TV/Device: Choose one of the following methods:
    • HDMI ARC (Recommended): Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the "ARC" port on the sound bar and the other end to the "HDMI ARC" port on your TV. This allows your TV remote to control the sound bar's power and volume.
    • Optical: Connect the optical cable to the "OPTICAL" port on the sound bar and the optical output port on your TV.
    • AUX: Connect the 3.5mm audio cable to the "AUX" port on the sound bar and the headphone/audio output jack on your TV or device.
    • USB: Insert a USB drive into the "USB" port for direct audio playback.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Remote Control Functions

The included remote control provides full command over your sound bar system. Insert 2x AAA batteries (not included) into the remote before use.

  • Power Button: Turns the sound bar on or off.
  • Volume +/-: Adjusts the master volume level.
  • EQ Button: Cycles through preset equalizer modes: Music, Movie, News.
  • Input Button: Selects the audio input source (HDMI ARC, Optical, AUX, USB, Bluetooth).
  • TRE +/-: Adjusts the treble level (12 levels).
  • BAS +/-: Adjusts the bass level (12 levels).
  • R.VOL +/- (Surround Volume): Adjusts the volume of the rear surround speakers (30 levels).
  • 2.1/5.1 CH Switch: Allows switching between 2.1 channel sound (sound bar only) and 5.1 channel surround sound.

4.2. EQ Modes

Optimize your audio experience with three dedicated EQ modes:

  • Music Mode: Enhances musical clarity and balance, ideal for listening to your favorite songs.
  • Movie Mode: Provides dynamic and immersive sound, accentuating cinematic effects and dialogue.
  • News Mode: Optimizes vocal clarity, making dialogue easier to understand.

4.3. Bluetooth Pairing

To connect your mobile device via Bluetooth 5.3:

  1. Press the "Input" button on the remote control until "BT" appears on the sound bar's display.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device and search for "Hiwill D51".
  3. Select "Hiwill D51" from the list to pair. Once connected, the sound bar will indicate successful pairing.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sound bar system.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the sound bar, subwoofer, and surround speakers. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Dust: Regularly dust the speaker grilles and vents to prevent accumulation, which can affect sound quality and ventilation.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from the power supply and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cables: Periodically check all cable connections for secure fit and signs of wear or damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hiwill sound bar, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Surround speakers/subwoofer not connected.
  • Surround volume too low.
  • Sound bar in 2.1 channel mode.
  • Ensure surround speakers are connected to SR/SL OUT and subwoofer to BASS OUT.
  • Increase the "R.VOL" (Surround Volume) using the remote control.
  • Press the 2.1/5.1 CH button on the remote to switch to 5.1 channel mode.
Distorted or tinny sound, lack of bass.
  • Incorrect EQ mode.
  • Bass/Treble levels set too low/high.
  • Poor audio source quality.
  • Cycle through EQ modes (Music, Movie, News) to find the best fit.
  • Adjust "BAS +/-" and "TRE +/-" levels on the remote control.
  • Try a different audio source to determine if the issue is with the sound bar or the source.
Bluetooth connection issues.
  • Sound bar not in pairing mode.
  • Device too far from sound bar.
  • Interference.
  • Ensure the sound bar is in Bluetooth mode ("BT" displayed).
  • Move your Bluetooth device closer to the sound bar (within 10 meters).
  • Turn off other Bluetooth devices nearby to reduce interference.
  • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
Sound bar resets or volume jumps unexpectedly.
  • Power fluctuations.
  • HDMI CEC/ARC conflict with TV.
  • Ensure the sound bar is connected to a stable power source.
  • If using HDMI ARC, check your TV's CEC settings (e.g., Anynet+, Bravia Sync) and try disabling/re-enabling them, or try connecting via Optical/AUX instead.
