The DJ-X82 is a versatile receiver designed for wide-band reception, covering frequencies from 108 MHz to 470 MHz in AM/FM modes, with an additional circuit for FM broadcast reception from 76-108 MHz. Please note that some frequencies may be blocked.

The DJ-X82 features a user-friendly keypad, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced users. It includes advanced functions such as Quick Memory, Quick Search Pass banks, and efficient memory scanning with SKIP and reverse SKIP options. A free editing software is available for PC connection via the included USB cable, allowing for easy memory registration and set mode configuration.

Setup

1. Battery Installation: The DJ-X82 uses 2 AA-size batteries (included). Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
2. Antenna Connection: Screw the supplied antenna clockwise onto the antenna connector located at the top of the receiver until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3. Initial Power-On: Press and hold the power button to turn on the receiver. The display will illuminate.
4. PC Connection (Optional): For advanced memory management and settings, connect the receiver to your PC using the provided USB cable. Download the free editing software from the Alinco Electronics Division website.

Operating Instructions

• Power On/Off: Press and hold the [POWER] button to turn the unit on or off.
• Frequency Tuning: Use the [DIAL] knob to adjust the frequency. Press the [MODE] button to cycle through AM and FM modes.
• Quick Memory: The receiver features 200 channels of Quick Memory. To store a frequency, tune to the desired frequency, then press the [MEMO] button followed by a number key.
• Quick Search Pass: Utilize the 200 channels of Quick Search Pass banks. During a search, pressing the dial allows you to skip noise or temporarily store found signals, which can then be easily moved to conventional banks.
• Program Scan: Register scan conditions in pairs. This allows searching the same frequency band with different steps and modes. The unit supports 50 pairs of program scans.
• Memory Scan: The memory scan function is enhanced with traditional SKIP and a new "Favorite Selection (Reverse SKIP)" feature. Use the SKIP reset function for more efficient scanning.
• Volume Control: Adjust the volume using the dedicated [VOL] knob.
• Squelch Control: Adjust the squelch level using the [SQL] knob to suppress background noise when no signal is present.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the receiver. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Battery Care: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Rechargeable batteries should be charged regularly according to their specifications.
• Storage: Store the receiver in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

• No Power: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and charged. Check for any corrosion in the battery compartment.
• No Reception/Poor Audio: Verify the antenna is securely connected. Check the frequency and mode settings. Adjust the squelch level. Move to an area with better signal reception.
• Keypad Unresponsive: Turn the unit off and on again to reset. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
• Display Issues: Check battery level. If the display is dim or flickering, replace or recharge batteries.
