5. Compatibility

This universal garage door opener keypad is compatible with a wide range of garage door openers manufactured from 1997 to current models that feature a Safety Sensor option. It supports both 315Mhz and 390Mhz frequencies and is designed as a replacement for models such as LiftMaster 878MAX. It works with major brands including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, Genie, Overhead, Linear, Wayne Dalton, and Stanley.

6. Setup and Programming

6.1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the flip-top cover of the keypad.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the keypad.
  3. Insert the included 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6.2. Mounting the Keypad

  1. Choose a convenient location outside your garage, at least 5 feet above the ground, away from moving parts of the garage door.
  2. Use the back of the keypad as a template to mark the drilling locations for the mounting screws.
  3. Drill pilot holes and insert the wall anchors if mounting into masonry or drywall.
  4. Secure the keypad to the surface using the provided screws.

6.3. Programming Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Follow these steps to program your keypad with a 4-digit PIN. The programming instructions are also conveniently located under the flip-top cover of the keypad.

  1. Locate the Learn Button: On your garage door opener motor unit, press and then release the 'Learn' button. The program light on the motor unit will illuminate for 30 seconds.
  2. Enter PIN: Within 30 seconds of pressing the 'Learn' button, enter your desired 4-digit PIN code on the keypad.
  3. Press and Hold ENTER: Press and hold the ENTER button on the keypad.
  4. Release ENTER: Release the ENTER button when the motor unit's light flashes twice. This indicates successful programming.

Test the keypad by entering your PIN and pressing ENTER. The garage door should activate.

7. Operating Instructions

To operate your garage door using the keypad:

  1. Open the flip-top protective cover.
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN code.
  3. Press the ENTER button.

The garage door will begin to open or close. If the door is already in motion, entering the PIN and pressing ENTER will stop the door. Pressing it again will reverse its direction.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Battery Replacement

The keypad uses one 9V lithium metal battery. When the keypad backlight dims or the keypad becomes unresponsive, it is time to replace the battery.

  1. Open the flip-top cover.
  2. Remove the screws securing the back panel to access the battery compartment.
  3. Remove the old 9V battery and insert a new one, observing polarity.
  4. Reattach the back panel and secure with screws.
  5. Test the keypad operation.

8.2. Cleaning

Wipe the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
