4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Charging the DeWALT Battery (Reverse Charging)

The Type-C port on the Ecarke adapter allows for reverse charging of your DeWALT 18V/20V lithium-ion battery.

  1. Connect a Type-C charging cable to the Type-C port on the adapter.
  2. Connect the other end of the Type-C cable to a power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank).
  3. For fast charging, it is recommended to use a power adapter with a rating of 30W or higher.

4.2 Using as a Power Inverter (Charging External Devices)

The adapter can power or charge various personal devices via its USB-A and Type-C output ports.

  1. Ensure a charged DeWALT 20V battery is securely attached to the adapter.
  2. Connect your device (e.g., mobile phone, laptop, tablet) to the USB-A or Type-C output port using an appropriate cable.
  3. The adapter will automatically begin supplying power to your device.

Important Tip for Charging External Devices:

When using the Type-C port to charge an external device, ensure the DeWALT battery is attached to the adapter first. If your external device (e.g., some smartphones) is configured to supply power, connecting it before the battery might cause the adapter to attempt to charge the DeWALT battery from your phone, rather than the other way around.

  2. Press the Light Button repeatedly to cycle through different brightness levels or modes (if applicable).
  3. Press and hold the Light Button to turn the LED light off.

4.4 Understanding the LCD Display

The LCD screen provides important operational information:

  • Battery Percentage: Displays the remaining battery charge from 1% to 100%.
  • Green Light Indicator: Indicates battery level, charging status, or fast charging.
  • Yellow Light Indicator: Signals discharging status.
  • Red Light Indicator: Indicates a fault or error condition.

5. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prolong the life of your device and batteries, please observe the following safety guidelines:

  • Do not expose the adapter to rain or wet conditions.
  • Do not operate the adapter if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or damaged in any way.
  • Always remove the battery from the adapter when not in use to prevent over-discharge and potential damage to the battery.
  • The adapter has built-in safety protections (short circuit, overcurrent, overvoltage, low voltage, overload, overtemperature). If a fault is detected, the Red Light Indicator will illuminate, and the unit may stop functioning.
  • The adapter will stop working if the battery voltage drops below 15V to prevent over-discharge.
  • Use only compatible DeWALT 20V lithium-ion batteries.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the adapter.
  • Store the adapter in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.

6. Maintenance

The Ecarke 2-in-1 Battery Charger and Power Inverter requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery and store the adapter in a dry, cool environment.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the ports and battery connection for any signs of damage or debris.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Adapter not powering on/charging devices.Battery not properly connected or discharged.Ensure battery is fully seated and charged. Check battery level on LCD.
Red Light Indicator is on.Fault detected (e.g., overtemperature, over-discharge).Remove battery, allow adapter and battery to cool. Reattach battery. If issue persists, discontinue use.
Slow charging of external devices.External device requires higher wattage than supplied, or cable is not suitable.Ensure your device supports the adapter's output. Use high-quality cables.
DeWALT battery not charging via Type-C.Charging adapter/cable not sufficient, or external device is trying to charge the adapter.Use a 30W or higher power adapter for fast charging. Ensure the DeWALT battery is attached to the adapter first before connecting the Type-C cable to the power source.
Non-OEM DeWALT battery does not fit well.Variations in battery dimensions.Apply gentle force to ensure a secure connection. If it does not fit, do not force it to avoid damage.
