1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the LONPOO LP-42s Active Bookshelf Speakers. These speakers are designed to provide high-quality audio for your computer, smartphone, tablet, and other compatible devices. Featuring versatile connectivity options including Bluetooth, USB, and AUX, along with a built-in amplifier, the LP-42s delivers clear and vibrant sound for music, gaming, and movies.

Please read this manual carefully before operating the speakers to ensure proper use and to maximize your listening experience. Keep this manual for future reference.

Before setting up your speakers, please check the package contents to ensure all items are present:

4. Product Overview

4.1 Speaker Features

4.2 Controls and Indicators

The main controls are conveniently located on the top of the active speaker. The rear panel houses the input/output ports and the master power switch.

  1. Volume +/- Knob: Adjusts the master volume.
  2. Earphone Jack (3.5mm): Connect headphones for private listening.
  3. Aux Input (3.5mm): Connect external audio devices via a 3.5mm audio cable.
  4. USB Input: Connect a USB drive for direct audio playback.
  5. Speaker Terminal: Connects the active speaker to the passive speaker using the provided speaker cable.
  6. Power ON/OFF: Main power switch for the speakers.
  7. AC IN Port: Connect the power cord to an AC outlet.

Note: When USB and AUX are connected simultaneously, the unit will play from the last connected audio source.

5. Setup and Connections

5.1 Speaker Placement

Place the active speaker (with controls and ports) and the passive speaker on a stable, flat surface. For optimal stereo imaging, position them equidistant from your listening position and at ear level. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the speakers.

5.2 Connecting the Speakers

  1. Connect one end of the provided speaker connection cable to the Speaker Terminal on the active speaker.
  2. Connect the other end of the speaker connection cable to the speaker terminal on the passive speaker. Ensure correct polarity (e.g., red to red, black to black).

5.3 Power Connection

  1. Ensure the Power ON/OFF switch on the rear panel of the active speaker is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the power cord to the AC IN Port on the active speaker.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cord into a suitable AC power outlet (110-240V ~ 50/60Hz).

5.4 Audio Source Connections

You can connect audio sources using Bluetooth, USB, or AUX input.

5.4.1 Bluetooth Connection

  1. Turn on the speakers using the Power ON/OFF switch.
  2. Press the "M" (Mode) button on the top panel until the LED indicator turns blue, indicating Bluetooth mode.
  3. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, computer), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  4. Select "LONPOO LP-42s" from the list of devices.
  5. Once paired, the blue LED will remain solid, and you can start playing audio wirelessly.

Note: The LP-42s speakers do not support Bluetooth headphones.

5.4.2 USB Connection

  1. Insert a USB flash drive (formatted as FAT or exFAT, up to 64GB) containing MP3 or WMA audio files into the USB Input port on the rear panel.
  2. Press the "M" (Mode) button until the LED indicator turns purple, indicating USB/AUX mode. The speakers will automatically detect and begin playing audio from the USB drive.

5.4.3 AUX Connection

  1. Connect one end of the provided 3.5mm AUX cable to the Aux Input port on the rear panel of the active speaker.
  2. Connect the other end of the 3.5mm AUX cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device (e.g., MP3 player, computer).
  3. Press the "M" (Mode) button until the LED indicator turns purple, indicating USB/AUX mode.
  4. Start playing audio from your connected device.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

To turn the speakers ON or OFF, use the Power ON/OFF switch located on the rear panel of the active speaker.

6.2 Volume Control

Rotate the Volume +/- knob on the rear panel of the active speaker to adjust the overall output volume.

6.3 Mode Selection

Press the "M" (Mode) button on the top panel to cycle through the available input modes: Bluetooth, USB, and AUX. The LED indicator color will change to reflect the active mode (Blue for Bluetooth, Purple for USB/AUX, Red for Standby).

6.4 Playback Control (Bluetooth/USB Modes)

6.5 Headphone Use

Connect your 3.5mm headphones to the Earphone Jack on the rear panel for private listening. When headphones are connected, audio output from the speakers will be muted.

6.6 Automatic Standby Function

The speakers are equipped with an automatic standby feature to conserve power:

To wake the speakers from standby, simply start playing audio from your connected source or press any button on the top panel.
