2. Adjusting the Headrest and Backrest
The headrest and backrest are adjustable to accommodate your child's growth and comfort.
- Headrest Adjustment: Locate the headrest adjustment lever (usually at the top of the headrest). Squeeze the lever and slide the headrest up or down until it is positioned correctly, ensuring the shoulder straps are at or just below your child's shoulders for rear-facing, and at or just above for forward-facing.
- Backrest Recline: The backrest offers 4 recline positions. Locate the recline adjustment handle (usually under the front edge of the seat). Pull the handle and adjust the seat to the desired recline angle. Ensure it locks into place.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will help prolong the life of your car seat.
- Removable Cover: The car seat cover is removable and washable. Follow the washing instructions on the care label, typically a gentle cycle with cold water. Do not tumble dry.
- Harness System: Wipe the harness straps with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not immerse the buckle in water or use harsh detergents, as this can compromise its function.
- Plastic Parts: Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the car seat for any signs of wear, damage, or loose parts. If any damage is found, discontinue use and contact the manufacturer.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Cangaroo Hoku i-Size Car Seat, please refer to the following common solutions.
- Seat Not Locking Securely: Ensure all Isofix connectors are fully engaged (green indicators visible) and the support leg is firmly extended and locked. Check for any obstructions under the base.
- Harness Difficult to Adjust: Check that the harness straps are not twisted. Ensure the harness adjustment strap is pulled smoothly and not caught on any part of the seat.
- Seat Rotation Stiff: Ensure no debris is obstructing the rotation mechanism. Apply gentle, even pressure when rotating.
- Indicators Not Green: Re-check all installation steps. For Isofix, push the seat firmly against the vehicle backrest. For the support leg, ensure it is fully extended and making firm contact with the floor. For the Top Tether, ensure it is taut.
If the problem persists, please contact Cangaroo customer support.
