2. Product Overview
The Bestway 58515-7 Sand Filter Pump is designed for efficient filtration of above-ground pool water. It features a pump flow rate of 3,596 L/h and is compatible with pools ranging from 1,100 to 18,100 L. The durable, corrosion-resistant filter tank ensures long-lasting performance. It comes pre-assembled with a 360° rotatable flange clamp for simplified installation and includes a 6-position valve for various functions and a pre-filter basket to capture larger debris.

3. Components
The Bestway 58515-7 Sand Filter Pump includes the following main components:
- Sand Filter Tank
- Pump Motor Unit
- 6-Position Control Valve
- Pressure Gauge
- Pre-filter Basket
- Hoses and Clamps
- Power Cord

4. Setup
4.1 Preparing the Filter Tank
- Ensure the drain plug at the bottom of the filter tank is securely closed.
- Remove the 6-position control valve from the top of the filter tank.
- Carefully add the appropriate filter media (pool filter sand or Bestway Polysphere filter balls) into the tank. Refer to the product specifications for the correct amount.

4.2 Connecting the Pump
- Place the pump on a solid, level surface, ensuring it is at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool.
- Connect the hoses from the pool's skimmer/return outlets to the pump's inlet and outlet ports using the provided clamps. The pump's inlet (suction) connects to the pool's skimmer, and the pump's outlet (return) connects to the pool's return jet.
- Attach the 6-position control valve back onto the filter tank, ensuring a tight seal.
- Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

5. Operating the Pump
5.1 6-Position Valve Functions
The multi-port valve allows for different operational modes:
| Position | Function | Description |
|---|---|---|
| FILTER | Normal Filtration | For filtering pool water. Water flows through the filter media and returns to the pool. |
| CLOSED | Pump Shut-off | Shuts off flow to the filter and pump. Use when cleaning the pre-filter basket. |
| BACKWASH | Filter Cleaning | For cleaning the filter media. Water flows in reverse through the filter and out the waste port. |
| RINSE | Post-Backwash Rinse | For rinsing the filter media after backwashing. Water flows through the filter and out the waste port. |
| DRAIN | Draining Pool | For draining water directly from the pool, bypassing the filter. Water exits through the waste port. |
| RECIRCULATE | Water Circulation | For circulating pool water without filtering. Water bypasses the filter media. |

5.2 Starting the Pump
- Ensure the pool is filled to the appropriate level and all hoses are connected.
- Set the 6-position valve to the FILTER position.
- Plug the pump into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Press the power button to start the pump.
- Check the pressure gauge. If the pressure is too high, the filter media may need backwashing.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Regular Cleaning (Backwash and Rinse)
Perform backwashing when the pressure gauge indicates high pressure (typically 0.2-0.3 bar above the starting pressure) or when water flow to the pool decreases significantly.
- Turn off the pump and unplug it.
- Set the 6-position valve to the BACKWASH position.
- Plug in and turn on the pump. Run for approximately 2-3 minutes or until the water in the sight glass (if available) runs clear.
- Turn off the pump and unplug it.
- Set the 6-position valve to the RINSE position.
- Plug in and turn on the pump. Run for 30-60 seconds.
- Turn off the pump and unplug it.
- Set the 6-position valve back to the FILTER position.
- Plug in and turn on the pump for normal operation.
6.2 Pre-Filter Basket Cleaning
- Turn off the pump and unplug it.
- Close the inlet and outlet valves to the pump.
- Unscrew the pre-filter cover and remove the basket.
- Clean any debris from the basket.
- Reinsert the basket and securely close the cover.
- Open the inlet and outlet valves and restart the pump.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not starting | No power, tripped breaker, motor issue | Check power connection, reset breaker, contact support if motor fails. |
| Low water flow | Clogged filter media, clogged pre-filter, air in system, low pool water level | Backwash/rinse filter, clean pre-filter, bleed air from system, add water to pool. |
| High pressure gauge reading | Clogged filter media | Perform backwash and rinse cycle. |
| Water leaking from connections | Loose connections, worn O-rings/gaskets | Tighten connections, inspect and replace O-rings/gaskets if damaged. |
| Pool water remains cloudy | Insufficient filtration time, dirty filter media, chemical imbalance | Increase filtration time, backwash/rinse filter, check pool chemistry. |
