Bestway Filter Pump User Manual
Model: 58870_25
Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Bestway Filter Pump. Please read it thoroughly before installation and use, and keep it for future reference.
Important Safety Information
WARNING: PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND RETAIN THEM FOR CONSULTATION WHEN NEEDED.
- Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance.
- Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, level surface.
- Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged.
- Keep children away from the pump and pool area during operation.
- Refer to local regulations for electrical connections and safety standards.
What's in the Box
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- 1x Filter Pump
- 240g Polysphere Pool Filter Balls
- Hoses and Adapters (for 3.8 cm threaded valves and 3.2 cm valves)

Setup and Installation
- Positioning the Pump: Place the filter pump on a solid, level surface near your above-ground pool. Ensure it is at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool edge and protected from direct sunlight and rain.

Figure 2: Proper placement of the filter pump next to the pool.
- Connecting Hoses: Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the pump and the corresponding ports on your pool. Use the provided adapters if your pool has 3.2 cm valves. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

Figure 3: Connecting the hose to the pool's inlet/outlet.
- Installing Filter Media: Open the transparent lid of the pump. Carefully place the Polysphere filter balls inside the filter chamber. Ensure the chamber is filled according to the pump's capacity, typically 240g for this model.

Figure 4: Inserting Polysphere filter balls into the pump.
- Securing the Lid: Once the filter balls are in place, securely fasten the transparent lid. Hand-tighten the black ring to ensure a watertight seal.

Figure 5: Securing the pump lid.
- Initial Priming (if necessary): Before plugging in, ensure the pump is filled with water. This may involve opening a small air release valve or allowing water to flow from the pool into the pump until it is full.
Operating the Filter Pump
Once installed and primed, the filter pump is ready for operation:
- Power On: Plug the pump into a grounded electrical outlet. The pump will begin circulating water, filtering out debris.

Figure 6: Operating the pump.
- Run Time: The recommended daily run time for optimal filtration depends on pool size and usage. For pools compatible with this pump (1,100 to 31,700 L), typically 4-8 hours per day is sufficient.
- Monitoring Filtration: The transparent lid allows you to visually inspect the Polysphere filter balls. If they appear dirty or the water flow decreases, it's time for cleaning or replacement.

Figure 7: Before and after filtration effect.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your filter pump:
- Cleaning Polysphere Filter Balls:
Disconnect the pump from power. Open the lid and remove the Polysphere balls. Wash them by hand with clean water until they are free of debris. Do not machine wash. The balls are reusable and can last 4 to 6 months with proper care.

Figure 8: Accessing filter balls for cleaning.
- Replacing Filter Balls: Replace the Polysphere balls when they can no longer be effectively cleaned or if filtration performance significantly degrades.
- Inspecting Hoses and Connections: Periodically check hoses for cracks or damage and ensure all connections remain tight to prevent leaks.
- Winter Storage: Before winter, drain all water from the pump and hoses. Clean the filter balls and store the pump in a dry, frost-free location.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not running | No power; clogged impeller; airlock | Check power connection; clean impeller; prime pump to remove air. |
| Low water flow | Dirty filter balls; clogged hoses; air in system | Clean/replace filter balls; clear hoses; re-prime pump. |
| Water leaking from connections | Loose connections; damaged O-rings/seals | Tighten connections; inspect and replace O-rings/seals if damaged. |
| Excessive noise | Airlock; pump not stable; foreign object in impeller | Prime pump; ensure pump is on a stable surface; check impeller for obstructions (after disconnecting power). |
