4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your SinLoon External Power Button:

4.1 Identify Motherboard Headers

Locate the front panel headers on your computer's motherboard. These are typically labeled as POWER SW, RESET SW, POWER LED+, POWER LED-, and H.D.D LED±. Refer to your motherboard's manual for exact pinout diagrams if unsure.

4.2 Connecting the Splitter (Optional)

The included 1-to-2 splitter allows you to retain the functionality of your PC case's original power and reset buttons while using the external switch. If you wish to use both, connect your original case cables to one side of the splitter, and the external switch cables to the other side. Then, connect the splitter to the motherboard headers.

Note: Some motherboard front panel adapters may be a single piece, which might make using the splitter challenging. In such cases, you may need to connect the external switch directly, or use additional extension wires if available.

4.3 Direct Connection

If you do not wish to use the original case buttons, or if the splitter is incompatible with your motherboard's front panel adapter, you can connect the external switch cables directly to the corresponding motherboard headers:

  • Connect the "POWER SW" cable from the external button to the "POWER SW" pins on the motherboard.
  • Connect the "RESET SW" cable from the external button to the "RESET SW" pins on the motherboard.
  • Connect the "POWER LED+" and "POWER LED-" cables to the respective "POWER LED" pins.
  • Connect the "H.D.D LED+" and "H.D.D LED-" cables to the respective "H.D.D LED" pins.

4.4 Secure the Button

Once the cables are connected, use the provided double-sided adhesive pads to secure the external power button to a convenient location on your desk or desired surface. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the adhesive.
