6. Installation Guide

6.1 Mounting the Range Hood

The SNDOAS US0475NBK is designed for under-cabinet mounting. A mounting template is typically included to assist with screw placement. Ensure the cabinet can support the weight of the range hood.

Important Note on Tilt: The back of the hood is slightly thicker than the front. After installation, the hood will tilt slightly downward. This is an intentional design feature and not a product defect.

6.2 Venting Options (Ducted vs. Ductless)

This range hood offers flexible venting options. You must select your preferred venting mode before final installation.

  • Ducted Installation: For external venting, an aluminum exhaust pipe (not included) must be connected to one of the three available air vents.
  • Ductless (Recirculating) Installation: To operate in ductless mode, carbon filters (Part #CF-0475, not included) must be installed. The air will be filtered and recirculated back into the kitchen.

6.3 Selecting and Preparing Air Vents

The hood is equipped with three air vents: a 6-inch round top, a 10x3 1/4-inch rectangular top, and a 10x3 1/4-inch rectangular rear vent. Carefully select the appropriate vent for your installation. Once an air vent and its corresponding stainless-steel plate are removed, they cannot be restored. Plan your venting path before making any modifications.

6.4 Motor Configuration for Venting Mode

Due to the motor configuration, a lever on the bottom of the unit controls the venting direction. You need to remove the screw on this lever, flip it to your chosen mode (Ductless or External), and then reattach the screw.

Video 6.1: This video demonstrates how to adjust the internal lever to switch between ducted (external) and ductless modes for the range hood.

The SNDOAS US0475NBK range hood features a simple push-button control panel located on the front of the unit.

  • Power Button: Press to turn the unit On or Off.
  • Fan Speed Buttons: Select from three fan speeds (Low, Medium, High) to adjust ventilation power according to your cooking needs.
  • Light Button: Press to turn the LED lights On or Off.

For optimal performance, turn on the range hood a few minutes before you start cooking and leave it running for a few minutes after you finish to clear any remaining smoke and odors.

8. Care and Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning Baffle Filters

The baffle filters should be cleaned regularly (ideally every 3-6 months, depending on cooking frequency) to maintain optimal performance and prevent grease buildup.

  • To remove: Locate the release latches on each filter, push them in, and pull the filter downwards.
  • Cleaning: The baffle filters are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, they can be washed by hand using hot water and a mild detergent.
  • To reinstall: Align the filter with the slots and push it upwards until the latches click into place.

8.2 Replacing Carbon Filters (Ductless Mode Only)

If your range hood is installed in ductless (recirculating) mode, the carbon filters (Part #CF-0475) will need to be replaced periodically, typically every 3-6 months, depending on usage. Carbon filters are not washable and must be replaced.

  • To replace: Remove the baffle filters. Twist the old carbon filters counter-clockwise to detach them from the motor housing.
  • Install new filters: Align the new carbon filters with the motor housing and twist clockwise until securely locked.
