4. Setup & Installation

Assembly requires two people. Please follow the included detailed instruction manual step-by-step. The awning can be secured to reinforced concrete, brick, or wooden walls. All necessary accessories are provided.

Important Installation Notes:

  • Recommended Installation Height: 8 to 13 feet from the ground.
  • Wall Compatibility:
    • For reinforced concrete and brick walls, use the provided expansion bolts.
    • For wooden walls, use the provided spare wood screws (M10). It is recommended to drill 0.25 inch pilot holes.
  • Component Assembly: Ensure parts U and V (plastic pipe nipples, approximately 2 inches long) are installed early in the assembly process, specifically into Part C2, to avoid disassembly later.
  • Arm Bar Links: When sliding in the arm bar links and mounting screws (refer to page 11 of the printed manual), initially leave them loose. The arm bar links must be attached to the arm bars before cutting the cloth bands. After attaching the arm bars to the links and cutting the bands, mount the arm bars approximately 8 inches from the end and then tighten securely.

5. Operating Instructions

Extending and Retracting the Awning:

  • To extend the awning, insert the hand crank into the designated hook and turn it clockwise.
  • To retract the awning, turn the hand crank counter-clockwise.
  • Ensure smooth operation and do not force the crank if resistance is met.

Adjusting the Awning Angle:

The awning's angle can be adjusted from 40° to 90° to optimize shade coverage.

  • Locate the adjustment mechanism on the awning arms.
  • Loosen the relevant bolts (refer to your detailed manual for specific bolt locations) to allow for angle adjustment.
  • Adjust the awning to the desired angle.
  • Tighten the bolts securely to fix the angle in place.

Leveling the Front Bar:

If the front bar of the awning appears uneven after installation or use, it can be leveled using the jack bolts.

  • Locate the jack bolt on each end of the awning (refer to page 17 of the printed manual).
  • Turning the jack bolt will raise or lower that end of the front bar. Adjust both sides until the front bar is level.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the polyester fabric cover with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the coating. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before retracting.
  • Weather Protection: Always retract the awning during strong winds, heavy rain, snow, or blizzards. Consider using a protective cover when the awning is retracted for extended periods to shield it from environmental elements and extend its lifespan.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically inspect all bolts, screws, and connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Tighten any loose hardware as needed.
  • Lubrication: Lightly lubricate moving parts of the crank mechanism annually with a silicone-based spray to ensure smooth operation.

7. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Awning does not extend/retract smoothly: Check for obstructions in the mechanism or fabric. Ensure the crank handle is properly engaged. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
  • Front bar is uneven: Refer to the "Leveling the Front Bar" section in Operating Instructions (Section 5) and adjust the jack bolts on each end of the awning.
  • Awning sags in the middle: Ensure the installation height and angle adjustments are correct according to the manual. Verify all mounting brackets are securely fastened.
