1. Important Safety Information

• Keep hands away from blades. Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving.

3. Setup

Attaching and Removing Blades

The HEINPRO HP-02ALJ2 comes with two interchangeable blades: an 8.7-inch hedge trimmer blade and a 4.7-inch grass shear blade. Always ensure the tool is off and the battery is removed before changing blades.

1. To Remove a Blade: Locate the blade release buttons on the tool. Press these buttons and gently pull the blade assembly away from the main unit.
2. To Attach a Blade: Align the new blade assembly with the tool's drive mechanism. Ensure the small tab on the bottom side of the blade assembly aligns with the corresponding slot on the tool. Push the blade assembly firmly until it clicks into place. Verify it is securely fastened by gently pulling on it.

Inserting and Removing the Battery

This tool requires a DEWALT 20V MAX lithium-ion battery (not included).

1. To Insert Battery: Align the battery with the battery port on the tool. Slide the battery into the tool until it clicks securely into place.
2. To Remove Battery: Press the battery release button (usually located on the battery itself) and slide the battery out of the tool.

4. Operation

Starting and Stopping the Tool

The HEINPRO HP-02ALJ2 features a triple safety guarantee. To operate:

1. To Start: Slide the safety locking device forward with your thumb, then press the trigger switch. The tool will start with a soft start mechanism.
2. To Stop: Release the trigger switch. The safety locking device will automatically return to its locked position.

Using the Hedge Trimmer

The 8.7-inch hedge trimmer blade is ideal for fine buds on hedges, trees, and ornamental shrubs. Max cutting length is 7.9 inches and max cutting thickness is 0.3 inches.

• Hold the tool firmly with both hands, ensuring a stable grip.
• Maintain a safe distance from the blades and ensure no bystanders are in the work area.
• Move the trimmer smoothly along the hedge or shrub, using a sweeping motion.
• Avoid cutting branches thicker than the recommended maximum.

Using the Grass Shear

The 4.7-inch grass shear blade is designed for cutting grass and edge trimming in small lawns or around delicate areas. Max cutting width is 4.4 inches.

• Hold the tool comfortably, positioning the grass shear blade close to the ground or desired trimming line.
• Move the tool steadily to achieve an even cut.
• Be cautious around hard surfaces or obstacles to prevent blade damage.

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your HEINPRO tool.

Blade Care

• Cleaning: After each use, remove the blade and clean off any sap, debris, or grass clippings. Use a stiff brush and a mild detergent solution if necessary. Dry thoroughly.
• Lubrication: Apply a light machine oil or blade lubricant to the blades before and after each use to reduce friction and prevent rust.
• Sharpening: If blades become dull, they can be sharpened by a professional or replaced. Always use genuine HEINPRO replacement blades.

Tool Cleaning and Storage

• Wipe down the tool's housing with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Ensure the tool is completely dry before storing.
• Store the tool in a dry, secure location out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
