1. Introduction

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Mounting the Radio

1. Select a secure and well-ventilated location for mounting the radio. Ensure it is away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
2. Use the provided mounting bracket as a template to mark the drilling locations.
3. Drill pilot holes and secure the mounting bracket using the supplied screws.
4. Attach the radio to the mounting bracket using the side screws. Adjust the angle for optimal viewing and operation.

5.2 Power Connection

• Connect the red wire of the power cord to the positive (+) terminal of a 13.8V DC power source.
• Connect the black wire of the power cord to the negative (-) terminal of the power source.
• Ensure the power source can supply sufficient current for the radio's maximum output (e.g., 80W PEP).
• Plug the power cord into the radio's power input jack.

5.3 Antenna Connection

• Connect a properly tuned 10-meter antenna to the Antenna Jack on the rear panel of the radio.
• Use a high-quality coaxial cable with appropriate connectors (e.g., PL-259).
• Ensure the antenna system has a low Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) to prevent damage to the radio. An SWR meter is recommended for tuning.

5.4 Microphone Connection

• Plug the microphone connector firmly into the Microphone Jack on the front panel.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

1. Power On/Off: Rotate the VOL knob clockwise to turn the radio on. Rotate counter-clockwise to turn off.
2. Volume Adjustment: Adjust the VOL knob to set the desired audio output level.
3. Squelch Control: Rotate the SQ knob to eliminate background noise when no signal is present. Adjust until the noise disappears.
4. Channel/Frequency Selection: Use the CH knob to change channels or frequencies. Push the CH knob to switch between channel mode and VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode.
5. Mode Selection: Press the MODE button to cycle through available modes: FM, AM, USB, LSB, CW, and PA.
6. Transmission: Press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the microphone to transmit. Release to receive.

6.2 Advanced Features

• RF Gain Control: Adjust the RF GAIN knob to control the sensitivity of the receiver.
• RF Power Control: Adjust the RF PWR knob to set the output power level.
• Clarifier: Use the CLAR knob to fine-tune the frequency in SSB/CW modes for clearer reception.
