Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for optimal performance and safety:

  1. Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that receives direct sunlight for at least 4-6 hours daily to ensure proper charging of the solar panel. Avoid areas under eaves, trees, or other obstructions that might block sunlight or motion detection.
  2. Mounting the Light:
    • Mark the desired installation spot on the wall.
    • Drill two holes at the marked positions.
    • Insert the provided wall plugs into the drilled holes.
    • Align the light's mounting bracket with the holes and secure it with the provided screws.
    • Ensure the light is firmly attached to the wall.
  3. Adjusting Light Heads: Once mounted, adjust the four rotatable light heads to cover the desired illumination area. The heads can be rotated to provide 270° wide-angle lighting.
  4. Initial Charge: Allow the solar light to charge for a full day (at least 6-8 hours) in direct sunlight before its first use to ensure the battery is fully charged.

Operating Instructions

Your SZPOWER solar flood light features three distinct lighting modes and intelligent motion sensing capabilities.

Lighting Modes

Press the power button on the back of the light or use the remote control to cycle through the modes:

  • Mode 1 (Motion Sensor Mode): The light remains off (0% brightness) until motion is detected. Upon detection, it illuminates at 100% brightness for approximately 20 seconds, then turns off if no further motion is detected.
  • Mode 2 (Dim Light Sensor Mode): The light stays on at a dim 3% brightness. When motion is detected, it brightens to 100% for about 20 seconds, then returns to 3% dim brightness after motion ceases.
  • Mode 3 (Always On Mode): The light automatically turns on at night and stays on at 30% brightness continuously until the battery depletes or dawn breaks.
  • Off: Pressing the button a fourth time will turn the light off completely.

All modes automatically deactivate during daylight hours to allow for solar charging.

Motion Sensor Functionality

The dual PIR motion sensors are designed to detect movement within a 180° angle and up to 32 feet distance. This ensures broad coverage for security and convenience.

Maintenance

To ensure your SZPOWER solar flood lights continue to operate efficiently, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean the Solar Panel: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, leaves, or snow. A clean panel ensures maximum sunlight absorption and charging efficiency.
  • Check for Obstructions: Periodically inspect the area around the light to ensure no new obstructions (e.g., growing branches, new structures) are blocking direct sunlight to the solar panel or interfering with the motion sensor's field of view.
  • Inspect for Damage: Occasionally check the light fixture for any physical damage, loose components, or signs of wear. While the unit is IP65 waterproof, severe damage could compromise its integrity.
  • Battery Longevity: The integrated battery is designed for long-term use. Avoid disassembling the unit to access the battery, as this may void the warranty and damage the waterproof seal.

Troubleshooting

If your solar light is not functioning as expected, try the following solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on at night.Insufficient solar charge.Ensure the solar panel is receiving 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Clean the solar panel if dirty.
Light is dim or flickers.Low battery charge or dirty solar panel.Allow for a full day's charge. Clean the solar panel. If problem persists, battery may be aging.
Motion sensor not detecting.Sensor obstructed or incorrect mode.Ensure the sensor is clear of obstructions. Verify the light is in Mode 1 or Mode 2. Check installation height (recommended 6.5-8ft).
Light stays on constantly (not in Mode 3).Sensor malfunction or continuous motion.Check for continuous motion in the detection area. Try cycling through modes or turning off and on again.
Remote control not working.Battery in remote is dead or out of range.Replace remote battery. Ensure you are within close range of the light when using the remote.
