2. Link Speed and Duplex Verification

The LinkRunner AT 4000 verifies link speed and duplex settings for 10/100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, and detects NBASE-T and Multigigabit 2.5G, 5G, and 10 Gbps links. It also discovers the nearest connected switch name and port information via CDP/LLDP/EDP, including VLANs, and monitors VLAN trunk traffic.

  • Connect the LinkRunner to the network port.
  • Access the Switch or Link section from the main menu.
  • Observe the displayed link speed, duplex, and switch port details.

3. Power over Ethernet (PoE) Validation

Validate PoE switching and cabling up to 90W 802.3bt with TruePower loading. This ensures that connected PoE devices receive adequate power.

  • Connect the LinkRunner to a PoE-enabled port.
  • The device will automatically detect and display PoE voltage and power class.
  • Perform TruePower loading tests to verify actual power delivery under load.

4. Advanced Cable Tests

Perform advanced twisted-pair cable tests for length, wiremap, and faults such as shorts, opens, and mis-wires (split pairs, crossovers). It also supports fiber optic link signal strength power measurement and SFP diagnostics. Use optional WireView adapters to locate cable endpoints.

  • Select Cable Test from the main menu.
  • Connect the cable to be tested to the LinkRunner. For endpoint location, connect a WireView adapter to the other end of the cable.
  • The screen will display the cable's wiremap, length, and any detected faults.

5. Network Discovery and Topology Mapping

Automatically discover and instantly generate a topology map of your networks using the Link-Live reporting and analysis platform. This feature is particularly useful for understanding network layout and identifying connected devices.

  • Ensure the LinkRunner is connected to the network.
  • Access the Discovery function.
  • The device will scan the network and upload discovery data to Link-Live for mapping.

6. In-depth Analysis Tools

Utilize tools like Path Analysis and packet capture to help solve complex issues. Test results can be automatically uploaded to the Link-Live collaboration, reporting, and analysis platform for improved teamwork and documentation.

  • Select Path Analysis or Capture from the main menu.
  • Follow on-screen prompts to configure and initiate the analysis.
  • Results can be reviewed on the device or uploaded to Link-Live for detailed reporting.
