1. Product Overview
The Linshang LS162 and LS162A are advanced portable meters designed for precise measurement of optical properties of various transparent materials, including window tint films, solar films, and glass. These devices provide instant readings for Visible Light Transmittance (VLT), Ultraviolet Rejection (UVR), and Infrared Rejection (IRR), making them essential tools for automotive, architectural, and quality control applications.

2. Key Features
- Compact and Portable Design: Small size for easy carrying and on-the-go use.
- Multi-Parameter Measurement: Simultaneously measures Visible Light Transmittance (VLT), UV Rejection (UVR) at 365nm, and IR Rejection (IRR) at 940nm (LS162) or 1400nm (LS162A).
- 8mm Test Aperture: Suitable for testing various materials including solar films, tinted glass, and side windows.
- Simple Operation: Instant measurement and display of results.
- Data Lock Function: Allows locking of displayed data after removing the tested material for convenient recording.
- Dynamic Self-Calibration: Ensures data stability and accuracy during testing.
- Low Power Consumption: Energy-efficient design.

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the LS162/LS162A meter and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the packaging list are present.

3.2 Battery Installation
The device requires 1 Lithium Metal battery (included). Locate the battery compartment, typically on the side or back of the unit. Insert the battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment securely.
3.3 Power On/Off
Press the 'ON/Hold' button to power on the device. The display will illuminate, showing the measurement parameters. To power off, press and hold the 'ON/Hold' button until the display turns off.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the meter is powered on.
- Insert the material (e.g., window film, glass) into the 8mm test aperture. Ensure the material is fully inserted and flat within the slot.
- The meter will instantly display the VLT (Visible Light Transmittance), UVR (UV Rejection), and IRR (IR Rejection) values on the screen.

4.2 Data Lock Function
To lock the displayed measurement data, press the 'ON/Hold' button briefly while the material is still in the test aperture. The 'HOLD' indicator will appear on the screen. You can then remove the material, and the readings will remain on the display until the button is pressed again or the device is powered off.
4.3 Dynamic Self-Calibration
The LS162/LS162A features dynamic self-calibration, which aids in maintaining data stability and accuracy during continuous testing. No manual calibration is typically required for standard operation.
4.4 Understanding Readings
- VLT (Visible Light Transmittance): Indicates the percentage of visible light that passes through the material.
- UVR (UV Rejection): Indicates the percentage of ultraviolet light (at 365nm) that is blocked by the material.
- IRR (IR Rejection): Indicates the percentage of infrared light (at 940nm for LS162, 1400nm for LS162A) that is blocked by the material.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the meter's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the test aperture free of dust and debris.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the meter or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this may damage internal components.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Power: Check if the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the test aperture is clean and free of obstructions. Verify that the material is inserted correctly and flat. The device performs dynamic self-calibration, but if issues persist, contact customer support.
- Display Freezes: If the display freezes, try pressing the 'ON/Hold' button to release the data lock. If it remains frozen, power off the device and restart it.
