2.4 Wiring and Terminal Designations
The Riseem STN615 features large terminal blocks for easy wiring. Refer to the diagram below for terminal designations:

Image 2.3: Detailed wiring diagram and terminal designations for the Riseem STN615 thermostat, including common, heat, cool, and fan connections.
| Terminal | Description |
|---|---|
| C | Common 24VAC (system power supply) |
| O | Reverse Valve Cool |
| B | Reverse Valve Heat |
| W | Heat relay stage 1 |
| W2 | Heat relay stage 2 |
| RH | 24VAC (system power supply) HEAT = RH to W |
| RC | COOL = RC to Y FAN = RC to G |
| G | Fan |
| Y | Cool relay stage 1 |
| Y2 | Cool relay stage 2 |
Note: If you have both RH/R and RC wires, remove the metal jumper wire on the thermostat. If only 2 wires are connected, the thermostat must be powered by batteries.
2.5 Power Supply
The Riseem STN615 thermostat offers dual power supply options:
- 24VAC Power: Connect to your HVAC system's 24VAC power supply.
- 2 AAA Batteries: Requires 2 AAA alkaline batteries (not supplied). These batteries provide a backup power source if a C-wire is not available, maintaining settings during a power outage.
A common wire (C-wire) is not required on most systems, but it is necessary for heat-only and cool-only systems when not using batteries.

If you encounter issues with your Riseem STN615 thermostat, review the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Display / Blank Screen: Check if the power to your HVAC system is on. If using batteries, ensure they are new and correctly installed. If connected via C-wire, verify the wiring.
- System Not Responding: Ensure the SYSTEM switch is set to COOL or HEAT, not OFF. Check wiring connections for looseness. Verify compatibility with your HVAC system.
- Incorrect Temperature Reading: Use the temperature display calibration feature to adjust the reading if necessary. Ensure the thermostat is not exposed to direct sunlight or drafts.
- Programming Issues: Refer to the 'Operation Manual' for detailed programming instructions. Ensure the thermostat is in 'Run' mode for the program to execute.
- Fan Not Operating: Check the FAN switch setting. If set to 'AUTO', the fan will only run when heating or cooling is active. If set to 'ON', the fan should run continuously. Check fan wiring.
For persistent issues, consult a qualified HVAC technician.
