1. Product Overview

The Digitek SmartFinder DSF 002 is a compact, wireless Bluetooth tracking device designed to help you locate your valuable items. 2. Setup Guide

2.1. Battery Installation

The Digitek SmartFinder DSF 002 uses a replaceable CR2032 button cell battery. The device typically comes with a battery pre-installed. If you need to replace it:

  1. Gently twist or pry open the SmartFinder casing to access the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Close the casing securely.

2.2. Pairing with iOS Device

The SmartFinder is designed to work exclusively with iOS devices through the Apple Find My app.

  1. Ensure your iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) is running the latest version of iOS.
  2. Open the Find My app on your iOS device.
  3. Navigate to the 'Items' tab.
  4. Tap the '+' icon and select 'Add Other Item'.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Digitek SmartFinder DSF 002. The device will be detected automatically when in pairing mode.
  6. Once connected, you can name your SmartFinder and assign an emoji to it for easy identification.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Locating Items Nearby

When your SmartFinder is within Bluetooth range (up to 164 feet), you can use the Find My app to locate it.

  • Open the Find My app.
  • Go to the 'Items' tab and select your SmartFinder.
  • Tap 'Play Sound' to make the SmartFinder emit an audible alert, guiding you to its location. The built-in speaker has a noise level of approximately 60 decibels.

3.2. Left-Behind Reminders

Receive instant alerts on your iOS device if you accidentally leave your SmartFinder behind.

  • In the Find My app, select your SmartFinder.
  • Enable 'Notify When Left Behind' in the item settings.
  • You will receive a notification on your iOS device if the SmartFinder disconnects from your device's Bluetooth range.
  • The Find My app will also display the last known location of your SmartFinder on a map.

3.3. Activating Lost Mode

If your item is lost and out of your personal Bluetooth range, you can activate Lost Mode to leverage the global Find My network.

  • In the Find My app, select your SmartFinder.
  • Scroll down and enable 'Lost Mode'.
  • You can enter a contact phone number and a message that will be displayed to anyone who finds your item and scans the SmartFinder.
  • When another iOS device in the Find My network comes within range of your lost SmartFinder, you will automatically receive a notification of its updated location.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Battery Replacement

The Digitek SmartFinder DSF 002 is powered by a CR2032 button cell battery, which typically lasts for over 10 months. When the battery is low, you may receive a notification on your iOS device. Refer to Section 2.1 for detailed battery replacement instructions.

4.2. Cleaning

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your SmartFinder, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting to Find My app:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iOS device.
    • Make sure the SmartFinder is within Bluetooth range (164 feet) of your iOS device.
    • Check the battery level of the SmartFinder. Replace the CR2032 battery if necessary.
    • Try restarting your iOS device.
  • Speaker not playing sound:
    • Verify that the SmartFinder is connected to your iOS device in the Find My app.
    • Ensure the SmartFinder's battery is not depleted.
    • Check the volume settings on your iOS device.
  • Left-Behind Reminders not working:
    • Confirm that 'Notify When Left Behind' is enabled for your SmartFinder in the Find My app settings.

  • Inaccurate location tracking:
    • Location accuracy depends on GPS availability and the density of iOS devices in the Find My network.
